Re: Should DC Charge stop at Limit set in Car ?
Don't worry about it, we nearly always charge to 100% and after 11 months and 9K miles I've not noticed any battery degradation. Maybe in the winter drive a few miles after a 100% charge but at the moment just use the full range.

Re: Charger installation for garage and driveway
The output from the 'charger' is not just a simple L/N/E as for a cooker. There are data connections too so these would also need switching over. I think the only way you could do it is wire another type 2 socket in parallel in a waterproof case from the back of the chargers type 2 socket. The cable...

Pressing the start/stop button keeps the info screen on for a set time, not sure for how long though.

Re: Charger won’t lock
Are you sure the plug is going all the way into the socket? If there is any sort of obstruction the pin won't line up with the hole in the plug hence the charge is limited to 1KW to stop damage to the contacts if disconnected at 7 or 11 KW.

Go electric, the car is very roomy, the life more so as it only has the lower boot floor. Ours has been totally reliable for 10 months and 8000 miles. We easily get 240 miles now it's summer.

Re: Pod Point question
It's easier just to change the SSID of the new router to the same SSID as the old router, also use the same password. This also means you don't need to change anything on your other devices.

Re: Charging to 80%
Ahh thanks for clarification. I never let the battery get below 20% if I can help it but I do feel the 80% recommendation is more to cover VW's warranty than anything else. The extra range and the 'full tank' feeling of a 100% charge is worth the slight degradation over the next 3 to 4 years. I will...

Re: Charging to 80%
I have always charged my phones to 100% and I have one that's at least 6 years old that still lasts two days. The battery in the car is essentially a huge version of a phone battery. I only charge the car to 100% if I'm using it immediately after charging and going on a longish journey so it's never...

I just unlock the car and open the passenger door, after a couple of minutes the screen goes black and I can clean it.

Pod point have a report a fault feature in their app. I reported one outlet of a 22kW was cutting off randomly and fair play to them it was fixed within a week.

Re: Is it OK to use a granny charger as my main charger?
If you are worried about overheating a 13A socket fit a 16A commando (caravan EHU type) socket on your outside house wall. Cut the 13A plug off and fit a 16A commando plug. If you need to use the granny lead at someone else's house you can get short 13A plug to 16A socket patch leads quite cheaply a...

Re: Is it OK to use a granny charger as my main charger?
I don't think it will harm the car but I believe charging at under 7kW is less efficient so in the long run will use more electricity. As the power from your panels is free I can't see this being a problem.

Re: What do I need?
The Podpoint app is very good, you can check availability and add a credit card to your account. I was quite surprised how cheap the 50kW DC charger was, 28p per unit, about the same as everyone will be paying at home soon. This was at Tesco, they may be higher at Lidl. A full charge for about £14 s...

I think you get percentage showing at 20% along with the low battery warning. If you are that bothered about percentage showing leave the charge screen on in the main screen.

I doubt an hour will cause any problems, LED lights and screens don't use much. The heater uses the main battery so will knock a few miles off your range.

Re: Anyone who has a Life trim wishing they had a Family trim?
Our previous car had a reversing camera but no sensors and on balance I do prefer the sensors. The lights on the life are brilliant, much better than our previous car. Our first choice was a family pro but as the dealer had a life pro performance in stock with 19 inch alloys we went for it. The pric...
