Re: Changing Cards or 300 apps
sidehaas (as usual) makes a very good point about the Tesla v3 chargers and too-short cables to reach rear-right charging ports. And if you do find a vacant stall and use the 'wrong charger' to reach your id3 port, if the site gets busy, expect some 'feedback' from the Tesla owners....

Re: Changing Cards or 300 apps
TimF, I use the free version of ChargeFinder, it's served me very well so far, I've found it much better than ZapMap for example The apps I use are ChargeFinder, Electroverse and Tesla - these cover all of my requirements. Kudos to the Tesla app for being pretty decent for finding Tesla chargers for...

Re: Changing Cards or 300 apps
Pretty much what's already been said. In all of my public charging history, have only ever needed Octopus Electroverse RFID card, VW We Charge card (for the very few edge cases that Electoverse doesn't cover but, weirdly, VW does) and contactless. The We Charge card has been used....once (in France)...

Re: Turning Off Lane Assist
The reason why many drivers - in this area at least - turn off any form of lane-keeping assistance is that they need to constantly weave around the road to avoid the never-mended getting-worse potholes....

Can recommend from Screwfix https://www.screwfix.com/p/masterplug-10a-2-4kw-mode-2-type-2-plug-portable-ev-charger-10m/458xv I'd always opt for the longer-cable option such as 10 metres, that extra length has already proved its worth for me when staying in a holiday rental property which had an awkw...

Re: Tyre recommendations
I've got Michelin CCs on my AWD id4 - same experience with using them on other cars, get a reduction in road noise, a better job of filtering out 'road buzz' because the tread is slightly more compliant, and of course all of the advantages of all-season tyres' superior grip in cold weather and/or sn...

Re: EV driving in Iceland
I'd recommend the brilliant ChargeFinder app which covers Iceland (although I've not been there personally) and based on my experience it's by far the best app for showing real-time charger availability Agree with sidehaas on id3 v id4, we have one of each, either car is a pleasure to drive: for me ...

Re: Plug and Charge - Wecharge providers
My understanding is that Plug and Charge is a car-specific service - it doesn't care which certificate provider you use when you plug your car in - and currently (no pun intended) only Ionity chargers support it. Only a limited range of vehicle manufacturers support P&C, mainly VAG cars

Re: Help! I cannot get my Thule Velocompact bike carrier to fit to my ID3 tow ball.
Strange... my Yakima JustClick rack fits fine on the id3 transport hitch ball and also on my id4 fitted with a detachable TowTrust towbar: the latter looks like the measurement from ball top to the machined 'narrow section' is about 55 mm, so even less.

Re: Hello
Hi Rosie60, would definitely get an Octopus Electroverse RFID card - it works for a large number of charge point operators (CPOs). As others have said, do a few practice charges to give yourself confidence, and download the ChargeFinder app, which in my experience is by far the best app for showing ...

Re: UK Public Charging
As a general point...would totally recommend ChargeFinder app for most reliable info on charger real-time availability. Tesla app works fine on my droid phone, used Tesla 'open for all' many times without a problem. In Ireland and NI, a combo of VW WeCharge and Electroverse RFID cards covered all of...

Re: BLIS Blind Spot Information System
This - and issues I've had in the past - mean that whenever I buy a vehicle new or used, I have a polite exchange of emails with the dealership along the lines of (but in a friendlier tone) "the brochure/price list/configurator cautions that it might contain errors or omissions and that the dea...

Re: Plug & Charge - Should it work on ALL ID.3s s/w 3.1+?
I had exactly the same (standard) error message when trying to install the P&C certificate and exchanged a few emails with VW (who weren't much help) and then suddenly.... it worked. Don't know if VW Mothership did something at their end or whether it's the inherent randomness in the software. B...

Re: New Tyres for an ID3 - A Cautionary Tail
Many, many YouTube videos showing the advantage of all-season v summer tyres on snow and ice, and there are some tests which show that (in ice/snow) the Michelin CC+ is as good as most dedicated winter tyres. Sure, if you want/need studs, that's when you need specific tyres. Also, my experience of t...

Exactly the same as beacon39, Plug & Charge (using Ionity) worked without fault in a recent EU trip (France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany)

Re: New Tyres for an ID3 - A Cautionary Tail
If there is any difference in tyre sidewall compliance, I'd guess it's not large. The problem you have is that 20-inch rims will have tyres with a low profile and the shallower sidewall is more susceptible to damage than, say, with 18-inch wheels and 55-profile tyres. The other problem with low-prof...

He also stated that VW have not recommended any Dash Cams to use with the ID3. That's interesting. When we bought our pre-reg id3 in 2021 the (totally obnoxious and clueless 15-year old) salesperson refused point blank my request to install a hardwire kit so I could fit my NextBase cam. "VW UK...
