Unfortunately the infotainment system won't let you access the battery's state of health, so it isn't exactly trivial for a buyer to check.monkeyhanger wrote: ↑Sun May 08, 2022 8:11 am True, but it's a lot easier to check battery health than level of compression, bore wear etc.

Re: Do you follow VW advice on battery charging?
A practical range for day to day use doesn't have a bearing on the potential range when you need it. You can set off at a 100% and run down to a level that suits your charging plans. That's still in the recommendations. You use the appropriate guidance for your specific journey. Just a different co...

Sunglasses case
A lot of cars have a fold-down sunglasses case in the ceiling, but the ID3 doesn't. Has anyone seen a good retrofittable case?

Re: Solar Panels
Yes, it’s odd how people rush down the road of payback when that wasn’t one of my primary concerns. I've been pondering solar for a while, and the primary reason for installing would be environmental. But its a lot of money, so we can't just write it off - we need to be able to recoup much of the i...

Re: Solar Panels
I do wonder if solar panels + battery are financially beneficial really. Just a battery and Octopus Go would allow you to shift your usage to the cheap period, so to be cost effective the solar panels are having to compete with the 7.5p/KWh Go price...

ID.3 1st - voice control
I was under the impression that all ID.3 models with dual zone climate control can control it through voice commands, so that includes the ID.3 1st. Telling my 1st to "defog windows" (voice command) has always given me a "this function is currently unavailable" response, so I con...

Re: What’s the maximum charge rate you have seen??
^^ This. Tesla and now Polestar do this - if you have a rapid charger as a destination in the nav - the car will warm your battery for arrival. This is hinted at coming to the Id series with SW 3.0. Along with many other things (ie don’t believe it until you see it!) My suggestion doesn't require a...

Re: What’s the maximum charge rate you have seen??
I have heard that you only get very high charge rates when the battery is over 25°C, which makes me wonder why it doesn't use some of the KW to run the battery heater and get it up to 25° instead of sitting there drawing 37KW from a 120KW charger. :-/

Re: Max charge rate between 20-80% ? ID3 Pure Performance
All other ID.3s max out at 100kW unless again it was built and delivered very recently and it was suggested to be 120kW (VW Announced this in July 2021) not sure how many cars they have delivered with this option. I think I have seen 1 individual see over 100kW rate recently. I was under the impres...

Re: Timed charging for Octopus Go
To add to this, I've had successes on all 3 nights I've plugged in with this setup: Target: 80% Preferred times: 00:30-01:30, 01:30-02:30, 02:30-03:30, 03:30-04:30 Departure time: 07:00 (no aircon). The departure time seems to make all the difference and my charging to 80% has been done completely w...

Re: 2.3 software
I'm still waiting for 2.3. It did pop up a thing about an update while I was poking at the infotainment a few days ago (not on the goodby screen - it just popped up out of nowhere), but it still hasn't actually updated.

Re: Octopus Go New Tariffs
Well, I can't decide whether or not its worth switching to Octopus Go, because of their gas prices. My current supplier (Outfox the Market) only does dual-fuel, so I *have* to switch the gas if I switch electricity. My current tariff is variable rate and seems to have been more or less tracking the ...

Re: Octopus Go New Tariffs
I didn't think Octopus were letting anyone sign up to go currently? I've had mixed messages. I phoned them up a couple of weeks ago and they told me I couldn't switch because they weren't accepting new customers. I queried them about it on Twitter and they told me that's not the case... so who know...

Re: Timed charging for Octopus Go
I still haven't found the right balance here. Using the Ohme, historically, to control charging (I'm also on GO 00:30-4:30) worked perfectly, every time, but I encountered a hurdle with remotely heating the car prior to departure outside of the cheap hours* I have an Ohme here, but I was hoping to ...

Timed charging for Octopus Go
Lets get this out of the way first: I know that timed charging is horribly broken. However, I've been using it to charge between 00:00 - 06:30 pretty successfully since I had the 7.6KW charger installed. I'm planning on moving to Octopus Go shortly, so thought I'd get everything set up to use the 00...

You certainly get the percentage below 10%, not sure about below 20%.
And I'm still waiting for 2.3 too. Lots of front assist errors and such the other day, but they've all gone and no update has appeared, so who knows!

Re: Charge to 40% .. pause .. charge to 80%
With a home charger limited at 7.8KWH, I am convinced that there is a calculation going on based on initial charge level…. There's definitely a calculation based on the initial charge level. It always seems to try to finish the charge at the end of the charge window, so the lower the SoC the earlie...

Re: Charge to 40% .. pause .. charge to 80%
As far as I am aware Departure times only control the cabin temps not the charging. It was probably supposed to control charging but it doesn't work for most people. The departure times seem to make charging a bit more aggressive for me - i.e. with it set to charge to 80% and no a departure time se...
