Re: Ev Car tax

I would imagine it would be the same as our old Hybris £165 probably £180 by the time they tax EV's.
But as other people have pointed out a change of government could change these proposals.

Re: "fuel" costs in 8 months ownership

A different picture for flat dwellers. We had about a year of free charging courtesy of ChargePlace Scotland’s deal with Glasgow. Then it all changed very quickly. Now my options are Podpoint at local Lidl (79p a kWh) or use local ChargePlace charger at 40p but have to pay 9.60 for 3 hours parking....

Re: "fuel" costs in 8 months ownership

My fuel costs are similarly tiny compared to fossil fuel, but the detractors will always point to the basic purchase cost of an EV, which we must admit, is still way out of reach for EVs to replace all fossil fuel vehicles. This line mixes up new and used costs. New EVs are still a bit more expensi...

Re: Road trip to cornwall

As i have learnt with our long trips always expect the unexpected with ev driving Yes! The infrastructure isn't quite there yet but I'm old enough to remember my dad in the early 70's having to plan ahead on long journeys as ICE cars then didn't have the range they do now. And it was the days petro...

Re: Road trip to cornwall

Thanks for sharing Andy1966. Would recommend using charge place scotland when you are up here. They tend to be a fair bit cheaper than other places. There’s also pretty good coverage in most areas. Thank you, I have downloaded the app already. I've checked out where we are going and there is a lot ...

Re: Road trip to cornwall

Had our cars first long trip and experience of the EV motorway network . I travelled from Bristol to Falmouth for my daughters graduation staying overnight in Truro , fully charged the car to 100%. Up to now the furthest we have driven the car is a roundtrip to Taunton. First part of the journey wa...

Re: Road trip to cornwall

7% sounds about perfect to get a decent charge speed! But I can imagine it felt a bit hairy on your first trip :) A lot of people have reported Cornwall Services being unreliable, it desperately needs a grid upgrade. Glad you made it back ok. It was a bit of a worry! Yes for such newly developed se...

Re: Volkswagen cuts EV production Citing Strong customer reluctance

I don't know a single family member or any friends that are ready to move to an electric vehicle, they would all replace their current vehicles with another ICE. IMHO we have hit saturation on those people that are switching and until ICE becomes not an option then sales are going to be slow. I'd i...

Re: New Instavolt Chargers Bristol

We live next to a community centre and there are four new Instavolt chargers installed and will be operational soon. Problem is that due to misuse of the carpark over the years the general public unless they are members of the centre or at a function or event being held there are fined as it is pri...

Re: Let’s see your ID.3 and post your positives with the car.

IMG_8748.jpg Despite the long wait for the car it was worth it. Even with no home charging It's been easy to use and a fantastic car to drive. Minor things that annoy me and my wife, having to turn off the drive assist every time we get in the car. The car's software isn't the best but it can only ...

Re: Delivery time

😂😂 Can you drive it in the rain. That's hilarious. I just got asked 10 mins ago how many miles I get. I have no answer to that because I've not fully charged it yet. Plus the fact it varies under different circumstances. Some people will think it charges by magic 😂 I know you couldn't make it up! I...

😂 Citroen ami haha I've had the "so it doesn't take any petrol at all?" These Airdrieonians are a different breed mate 😂 Same, not had any issue with the infotainment system at all. The heads up display is excellent. I've had the road works warning etc, it's really good. Well chuffed with...

Re: Delivery time

I'm really enjoying the car, still learning it though. Not had any problems at all apart from a noise now and again that sounds like a small stone hitting the window. Loads of people have commented on the car because they've never seen an id3 before 😂 no surprise there. I’ve had the “ Is that one o...

We will be staying at an AirbnB near the Livingston golf course in July when we pop up visiting relatives and friends. What are the best chargers nearby.
