Re: Breakdown cover

I called out VW Assistance at the end of November last year to deal with a flat tyre. My car was 18 months old at the time, so the cover is certainly more than one year.

Re: Creaking dashboard

I had this issue with mine, coming from the area where the cover of the HUD contacts the dashboard. I mentioned it on a visit to the dealer and when I collected the car they claimed to have fixed it, but the problem was still there. I eventually fixed it myself. I purchased a thin strip of neoprene ...

Re: Software 3.1

No - only if you have an Apple phone but use Google maps through Carplay. If you use Google maps through Android Auto then it all works as it should and you get directions in the driver's screen. If you use the in car nav, you get that plus ID light directions. Not sure if you have the HUD, but wou...

Re: Scheduled charge advice please

I have a Wallbox Pulsar Plus, scheduled to charge between 00:30 and 04:30. It will always charge at 7kW, irrespective of how long the car was plugged in before the scheduled start time. That suggests it's not a general incompatibility between Wallbox chargers and the ID.3. Are you running the latest...

Re: ID3 tyre wear

I've seen quite a few people on Facebook groups moaning about wear on the Bridgestones but not the Contis. Normally I'd hope for 20k from a set but it does depend on the car, I had a Mazda 3 MPS that went through a full set every 10k. It's worth considering what the Contis start at (I haven't check...

Re: Car won't engage drive or reverse

Sorry, thought Id updated this post last night. All sorted. Went back to it after an hour, tried it, no sign of the errors, stupid flipping car! If I were you I would definitely book the car into the workshop to get the part changed. Even though the car is now working again the faults should still ...

Re: another electric drive problem

So for anyone interested.. The issue was the Drive selector switch, has been replaced and I have the car back now, although currently the wife has suggested we sell it. I've had a long chat with the dealer Techs and have opened a ticket with VW UK. I had a similar issue in the first few weeks of ow...

Re: EDMI Mk7B SMETS 1 meter upgrade

Neither Bulb nor British Gas (current and previous suppliers) are/were able to confirm whether this particular meter model (EDMI Mk7B) will ever be successfully upgraded. They just say that an attempt will eventually be made and, if and when the attempt is made, they would let me know. Until such t...

Re: Creaking from Panoramic Roof

I continue to have a creak but from the top of the dash around the HUD. It's been to the dealer twice and they've stripped down the area, added extra padding and eventually installed a new dash. Each time it has come home and within a few days the creak is back. I'm debating whether to send it for ...

Re: Queuing at the petrol stations!

Brexit has absolutely nothing to do with it That is a knee jerk political reaction This is entirely the fault of IR35 and everyone in contracting knew it was going to happen The government has to abolish IR35 now Brexit may not be the only factor but of course it is a contributory factor. If not, t...

Re: ACC performance/experience

If the system is anything like the one in the old Tiguan you can press RESUME on the steering wheel to take off as well, rather than dabbing the accelerator, travel assist or not. The front radar detects movement and tapping resume immediately turns the ACC system on so the car follows immediately....

Re: ACC performance/experience

I have commented elsewhere about the delay of the ACC driving off after it has brought the car to a full stop in traffic. I have tested this further and the delay is so long that the car in front has driven off and disappeared round the corner and the car behind is honking. At this point I lose my ...

Re: Smart SMETS2 meter

Just took another look at Octopus website. It says: "If you're not a customer of ours yet, contact your current supplier to find out what meters you have. Don’t forget – you need either a second generation SMETS2, or a SMETS1 made by Secure™, to be able to join a smart tariff, If your meter has...

Re: Smart SMETS2 meter

I had a SMETS1 meter installed by British Gas a few years ago. When I moved to Octopus they implied that SMETS1 meters would eventually work with their system. However, nothing ever materialised so recently I requested a SMETS2 meter installation in order to be able to use the Octopus Go tariff. Thi...

Re: ID3 width

I don't know whether it's accurate or not, but the website automobiledimension.com states the width as 2070mm with mirrors unfolded (and the above figure of 1809mm with mirrors folded). The image in the earlier post above makes it look as though the car is wider at the front than at the mirrors, but...

Re: Should I Take The Plunge?

I have a 2021 Tech Pro Performance. I chose it for other features, in particular the travel assist and the HUD. I was a bit concerned that the panoramic roof might make the car too hot inside during the summer months. However, it hasn't been a problem during the hot weather of the last few days. In ...
