Re: On the verge of ordering, in need of some clarifications
Thanks Heidi! Very useful stuff - those measurements sound very spacious , I'll have to wait 18 days for a test drive unless I order blind, but I really shouldn't not having driven an EV before. I was offered a Silver ID3 Life Pro Performance with Derry wheels for end of April on Drive the deal. Wi...

Re: On the verge of ordering, in need of some clarifications
Thanks for the replies so far. I'd really appreciate it if someone could whip out their tape measure and measure the gap between seat back of the drivers seat and front edge of rear seat bench behind, with the front seat furthest back on its rails. There's a dealer on the Golf GTI forum who should a...

On the verge of ordering, in need of some clarifications
HI Everyone, With lockdown, i've yet to see an ID3 in the flesh, let alone test drive one. I've heard they're as spacious for passengers as a Passat, so should be comparable with my current A4 Avant (except the boot space). Looking to get rid of the A4 (that the wife won't drive as it's too big) and...

Re: EV Grant reduced
Am I right in thinking that every ID3 trim range except Life is over the £35k threshold and effectively £3k dearer than they were prior to the 18th of March? The grant pulling seems to be with immediate effect, so assuming orders placed on unregistered cars are now going to be £3k dearer. I can imag...

Re: ID.3 Life - Speakers Crackling and rattling
I think for £1000, I'd learn to live without if I end up getting an ID3. It's an odd omission though, considering how little it would cost VW to fit as standard. It's not like they'd draw a great amount of energy to impact range either. I'm sure £7k Dacias have rear speakers.

Re: Should I be worried about reduced battery quality?
I'd hazard a guess that there's far more 300k mile diesels than EVs. My Dad bought a MK7 Golf GTD new in 2013 and he's up to 185k miles now. The only issue he's had was the dpf filling up with incombustible ash. He's cleaned it out (removing the dpf and exhaust system and using his pressure washer b...

Re: ID.3 Life - Speakers Crackling and rattling
How easy is a rear speaker retrofit with the existing infotainment system? No rear speakers seems a level of cost cutting too far in this day and age.
Do all life models (or most models?) miss out on rear speakers or just the lowest output variant?

Re: Should I be worried about reduced battery quality?
And if you look at some of the older, secondhand, Tesla vehicles - circa 300,000 miles on the clock and still on the original bettery. How many ICE cars have that kind of mileage? I wonder what % of the original battery charge of those 300k mile Teslas are at? 60% of a huge amount is still a hell o...

Re: Should I be worried about reduced battery quality?
I really like VWs, I've bought 11 new, but one worrying trend over the last few years is that they're doing all they can to dodge warranty claims. Getting the inevitable white-worm at 24-30 months on diamond cut alloys and getting replacements under warranty used to be a formality, not now. I had a ...

Re: EV Grant reduced
In terms of dog - I’ve got a Weimaraner and he’s very happy in the ID3. Seems comparable in weight to a heavy set Labrador, happy in the boot or on the seats? Not averse to her being on covered seats, but only if there's not 4 humans in the car. Now(ish) would seem the sweet spot for EV ownership -...

Re: EV Grant reduced
Hopefully VW will react by upping the deposit contribution by £500. The pound has made some modest gains recently (about €1.17 fron €1.11 at the start of the year), which would help pay for it. EV prices need to come down to match equivalent ICE prices. I'm on the fence about EVs right now - I'm on ...

Re: New alloys to replace the ridiculous plastic hubs
Nice allows, are they VW r after market ? Original tyres ? Where did you get the alloys they are great. My Id style is the same colour with plastic bins! Dreadful! Hi I kept the original VW tyres is 19inch would have been too uncomfortable and costly I just changed the steel rims for alloys, I brou...
