Planning first motorway trip from London to Devon.
Model is ID3 Family and will be using aircon, CarPlay and driving around 70-80mph. Forecast says about 20 degrees.
Any idea what sort of kWh/mi economy to expect given above situation?
Not sure whether the Family model is 58 or 62 kWh battery?

I can’t find a use for wifi either, though mine does work.
Latest OTA update rolling out now is over 4g for some inexplicable reason NOT wifi!

Re: Information about the 2.3 OTA update
Why on earth do they restrict such large update data files to 4G, i mean what is the point of having WIFI on the car which can connect to your home network. i have an intermittent 1 bar of 4g signal on the car where I live, i guess this means im going to have a difficult time time succesfully downlo...

Re: Does anyone use a mobile device as a vehicle key?
It sounds like it requires factory fitted hardware rather than a software update to enable. Maybe VW might offer as a retrofit option in the dealership? My Tesla Model 3 has the mobile phone as a key (and a backup rfid(?) card) which I must say is brilliant, I can even open it and preheat, honk, ven...

Over the air updates and app update
Anyone know when VW plan to start rolling out OTA updates and what sort of updates to expect?
Similarly, any insights on when the will update the laggy and feature poor app? Eg remote lock/ unlock, cabin temp, flash, honk, vent windows etc. As per Tesla app

Re: I’ll probably get hung for this - ID3 or Tesla 3
I have both an ID3 family and a Tesla Model 3 Performance. I don’t recall them being close in price though, about £30k and £55k respectively, so M3 is almost twice the price. We bought an ID3 as needed an inexpensive hatch back for the dogs, for short trips around town, school run etc. For this it’s...

Rear mounted bike carrier
I recent asked VW for a price to supply and fit a tow ball for my existing bike carrier. Almost fell off my chair when they quoted £1,275 which is just a silly number. Their own bike carrier would be an extra £400 on top of this number..... Anyone found a rear mounted bike carrier which hooks over t...

Re: Mirror dip when reversing
I live in central london and like to think I have reasonable lane discipline, however on quite a few occasions I have found it tugging away at the steering wheel pulling me towards danger rather than away from it which is always alarming and usually results in loud cursing! Massively annoying not to...

Re: Mirror dip when reversing
I think it’s just another example of poorly designed software. Driver should be able to select in vehicle settings ‘always dip on reverse’ or the existing (rather confounding) ‘only dip on reverse when L is manually selected’ It’s a bit like the lane departure system defaulting to ON at the start of...

Re: Mirror dip when reversing
That seems to be step backwards from my old MK5 golf where the mirror selector was always in L position so that when you select reverse it automatically dips. There’s nothing automatic about having to turn the mirror selector knob to L every time you want to reverse with the mirror dipped! Bit of a ...

Mirror dip when reversing
Hi All I have set my passenger mirror to dip when engaging reverse. However this only happens when the mirror selector is set to “L” Annoyingly the car always seems to forget the selector in the “L” position when I exit, so next time I get in the car and select reverse the mirror doesn’t dip in reve...

Re: 2.1 update confirmed
My car has been in for 2 weeks now. Control unit failed and still no date for replacement to be shipped, let alone a date for arrival. VW communication on the issue has been atrocious, massively regret buying VWs first attempt at an EV as clearly they are in disarray over software/ hardware issues a...

Re: 2.1 update confirmed
I just called VW west london and asked them for the next slot for 2.1 update. Almost fell off my chair when they told me mid May! Called Wimbledon and they said next week. My experience with West London is utterly dreadful, they cancelled on my 3 times for the 2.0 update and now seem to be 2 months ...

Thinking of trading up to ID3 Max..?
I currently have an ID3 family but orignally wanted to buy a Max but they werent available in UK back in December when I was buying. Wondering if anyone on here has driven both and has a view on whether its worth upgrading? I think these are the extras you get on a Max over and above a Family for £3...

Re: Over-the-air updates happening!
Any idea how to identify the ID3 on your home wifi network?
Does it appear with an obvious name like VW ID3 or do you need to somehow find the MAC address of the car and search for its MAC address on your wifi network?

Re: Infotainment : Media
Yeah I have been using car play and Apple Music and using Siri to call up music and radio. I have software 2.0 already. I was trying to add Apple Music natively to the car as a streaming service but as you say it requires a separate data subscription which does not seem to be available yet to ID3 ow...

Re: Over-the-air updates happening!
Does the ID3 stay permanently connected to wifi until you drive away? I parked my car up, switched it to wifi then a few hours later checked on my network scanner and it had disappeared off the network. Also I couldn’t even warm up the car this morning on the weconnectid app, when previously it used...

Re: using voice command to play music or switch to apple car play
I’ve noticed a bug (unless it’s just my car) when you’re in car play and you use the cars own voice command to change the radio station or open the sun blind, it takes you away from the CarPlay screen whilst listening and executing the voice command, then tries to go back to car play but just shows ...

You can add Apple Music/ Spotify/ Tidal as a streaming music service if you already have a subscription according to VW website. I’ve tried and failed so far to do this, maybe it will be available with the 2.1 software update?

using voice command to play music or switch to apple car play
Hi guys Anyone know if there a voice command that allows you to switch to apple car play rather than having to tap the car play tile on the screen? Also, if I say "Play Led Zeplin" for example, it just says "please adda a media streaming service first" even if i my phone is alrea...
