Re: New ID.3 with Transport Hitch/Bicycle Carrier Prep

You can fit a witter or a Thule carrier subject to weight and clearance restrictions.

Re: Address in Nav System Issue

Yes, the shared location appears on the car nav in contacts, but when selected the car nav asks to check the address and then fails to find it.

Re: Address in Nav System Issue

Unfortunately I am also having the issue of being unable to connect to CarPlay. I'll persevere with the VW system until I get CarPlay sorted.

Address in Nav System Issue

I can't seem to get the Nav to accept an address from the contacts list on my iPhone, or by voice control specifying the contacts name. Anyone any ideas? Software is 2.0.

Re: Is anyone using the bike prep to attach a towball bike carrier?

My interpretation is that it has to be 75Kg including the carrier, but as you say you'd have to be sure. Just how you would confirm this I don't know, perhaps a direct contact with VW? Not sure a Dealer would know.

Re: Is anyone using the bike prep to attach a towball bike carrier?

I have checked the documentation and there is conflicting info. On the car plate it says 55kg. In the supplementary book entitled Technical Modifications ID.3 it says "The maximum load (carrier system including load) of the bicycle carrier fitted on the ball coupling is 75Kg." This supplem...

Re: Is anyone using the bike prep to attach a towball bike carrier?

As far as I know if ordered along with car they are factory fitted and have a max load of 55kg. They can be retrofitted by dealer at significant cost increase over the factory fitted one.

Re: Is anyone using the bike prep to attach a towball bike carrier?

As far as I know mine is the 55kg limit. Factory fitted. I think the data plate in the hitch area says 55kg. I wasn't aware of any 75kg limit - seems a bit high to me.

Re: Is anyone using the bike prep to attach a towball bike carrier?

So I've had a chance to connect my hitch up to the car and and the Thule bike rack to the hitch. Anyone interested it's a Thule 916020 rack specifically for ebikes as it will carry two bikes with a maximum weight of 30kg per bike. The rack itself weighs 19kg. It cost £260 in 2017 when I got it from ...

Spectacular Light Show

This is probably not a fault but unless I keep my key in a tin box old Sparky downstairs in the garage puts on a regular light show. The LED in the key flashes red when I take it out of the box and Sparky lights up. I have a camera in the garage so I can watch the antics. This happens even when the ...

Re: Stuck in Grimsby!

I have poor hearing anyway, must find a handy wall later! CarPlay just refuses to connect even though phone is paired. I will try a cable connection later, but I'm sure I can get it sorted soon.

Re: Stuck in Grimsby!

Well it was eventually released and I took delivery today. A big change from my Touareg, I'm gradually getting my head round all the features - I'm particularly impressed with the lights, just back from a run combining country roads and towns, they seemed to work faultlessly, well nobody flashed me ...

Re: Is anyone using the bike prep to attach a towball bike carrier?

I'm wondering if that is the official VW carrier in the pics? Hoping my existing Thule carrier will fit as the VW one is two fortunes! Will find out tomorrow as I'm picking my car up then.

Re: ME2.0 update cancelled

Davelon's last post reminded me of the Faulty Towers sketch where John Cleese gave the Austin Maxi a good thrashing with a branch! Hope it doesn't ever come to that but I'm going out this morning to look for a suitable branch to keep handy.

Re: New Tour ordered

I found the most accurate way was through the dealer. They seem to have access to a much better system than the 'track your order' site that the customer can use. My dealer told me there was a big backlog of cars sitting in those massive parks near Grimsby. Apparently VW sent a load of cars to the u...

Stuck in Grimsby!

New Family supposed to be delivered this week but my Dealer says stuck in Grimsby apparently. It shows as 'in transit' on the VW app thing although I'm not sure of the reliability of this app. Coming in Stonewash Blue with alloys and the bike prep. Going to be a bit of a change from my Touareg but a...
