Re: Listening to music

Hmm, I'm not sure about this. I listen to stuff on a USB stick too, but when I return to the car the same file on this stick resumes. Maybe it's something about the way you have your phone connected to the car?

Now I think that looks very cool indeed. Nicer than the 1st Edition alloys I reckon.

ID.3 Tracker?

I've wondered about installing a tracking device in my ID.3. There's a low cost device called a Tile, but that uses Bluetooth so if your car is stolen it depends on the network of users running the Tile app on their phones to sense the proximity of the stolen car and electronically report it back to...

Re: Fitting Rear Speakers to a First Edition

I've heard that there's no provision in the wiring loom for rear speakers, so it won't be a straightforward job.

I rarely carry passengers in the back of mine, so it doesn't bother me that they're absent. In my view the sound quality in the front seats is pretty good, though.

Re: Erratic Window Winding

The reset process used to be in the manual, perhaps it still is. Thank you so much, Monkeyhanger. I found this in the manual: One-touch opening and closing does not work One-touch opening and closing is deactivated if the 12-volt vehicle battery has been disconnected or discharged while the windows...

Re: New ID3 today - using "B" drive mode?

If my maths is right (I'm in km and the car shows 11.1 kWh/100km) I make that 5.6 miles/kWh Mostly local roads limited to 80km/h and some dual carriageway at 110km/h in B mode. 1100km total since new. Very happy, with that. That's astonishing. At 5.6 miles/kWh that makes yours by some margin the mo...

Erratic Window Winding

Has anyone else experienced this fault? The window winder buttons are two-stage affairs - if you press them one stage they operate the window and when you let go the window stops. But if you press them all the way, two stages, the window should open or close fully unless you press the button again o...

Re: New ID3 today - using "B" drive mode?

I'm approaching 2000 miles overall. Over the last 551 miles (since my car had its 2.1 software update) I have averaged 3.9m/kWh, mostly short journeys 8-10 miles, occasional longer trips ~80 miles including motorway stretches. I use D mode all the time now. I'm pretty pleased with that, quite a lot ...

I have the VW item from the VW Accessories brochure: https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/files/live/sites/vwuk/files/pdf/Brochures/volkswagen-accessories.pdf I have the 'flexible loadliner' which is made of what seems to be closed cell foam (a bit like camping mats) and although it does the job well and fi...

Re: New ID3 today - using "B" drive mode?

I love my ID-3 thank you WW and my dealer. Glad to hear you're pleased with your car, its manufacturer and the dealer too. I charged my car to 100% the other day, for the first time ever (always charged to 80% previously) preparatory to a journey of 39 miles and back, mostly motorway - 78 miles. Th...

If you have a Zappi or similar, but some have dumb chargepoints.

Re: Still waiting ☹️

Sorry you've had this experience. Some VW dealerships seem to care very little about their customers. My local dealer was so useless when I approached them to buy my new car that I went elsewhere and bought from a dealer 40 miles away - who was excellent, I have to say.

Re: 'Reduce charging current' option

Lithium batteries can be damaged by charging them very fast, right up to 100%. But we're talking about 100kW rapid DC chargers, not 7.4kW AC domestic chargers. Charging at home at 7.4kW won't damage the battery, but if you charge to 100%, best to do so just before your journey, the battery can be da...

Re: Observations on consumption

Hi CarterHounslow, I'm surprised to hear the ID.3 uses the same amount of energy at half throttle as it does at full throttle. It's difficult to see how it can push the car along twice as hard, while using the same amount of energy to do so. If you're relying on the readout on the 'vehicle/data' scr...

Re: Footbrake pedal with a life of its own

Thank you Scott, trust you to have the answer - short but succinct. Do you know what the car is doing? Perhaps checking its functions before setting off, like the headlights rising, lowering, swinging left and right? I guess if the complex EV brake pedal response system (regen and friction collabora...

Footbrake pedal with a life of its own

I've noticed that when I unlock and enter my car, the footbrake pedal does a little dance, moving down and back up again. At least I think that's what it's doing, it might do other stuff before I notice it.

Is this normal, do all ID.3s do it?

I borrowed £28500 from VWFS on 28th November over 4 years. I have paid £386.13 per month four times so far. So I have paid them £1544.52. I have a settlement quote of £27766.22 which indicates I have paid off £733.78 of the capital, and paid £810.74 interest. I didn't have the money to buy the car o...

Unfortunately my wife still drives a Diesel so fuel station visits are still a fact of life in this household. My Bosch cordless lawnmower pre-dates my EV by a couple of years, and I can concur with Folkramfer - it's great. I've added a strimmer and hedge clipper to my collection of Bosch cordless g...
