Re: Battery and Cabin Pre-Heat
Apologies I must have misunderstood some threads where it was mentioned that having the battery on charge will warm the battery by dint of that charge? No need to apologise - I was confused too. There were several threads last year implying that the battery could be pre-heated, but my understanding ...

Re: Volkswagen sent unfinished electric car on the street and saved billions in climate fines from the EU
I could name hundreds of models from various makes that had fixes, recalls, or component redesigns after their first year of production due to being, basically, useless or severely impaired. And here's one from today for models which are over a year old: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-598188...

Re: Auto-Hold and brake lights
I can see the OP's point. I have sat behind some cars when waiting in traffic, especially at night, thinking, why doesn't he take his bloody foot off of the brake pedal. Some of these brake lights are bright enough to read a book by! I thought it was just "driving style". When I passed my...

Re: 2.3 update performed by dealer
When I queried my lack of an update with VW, I received this message: As we further checked in our tools, your vehicle has not been assigned to the campaign yet. Thus, it is not possible to determine in advance for which time-frame your ID.3 will be assigned. However, you will be part of the followi...

Re: Charging cable not releasing
I had one experience of this with a local Osprey charger. Along with their helpdesk we tried everything we could think of, including the manual release cable in the boot. I was just about call out the VW Roadside assistance when it suddenly released. Did you try the manual release? It might work, so...

I had this response today. Which seems out of kilter with already having had 2.3 part 1. Oh well… “ As we further checked in our tools, your vehicle has not been assigned to the campaign yet. Just to back up what others have said, I left my ID.3 at Bristol airport for ten days in November. It was charged to 82% when I left it and it was still reading 82% when I returned.

You also need it if you want to use the power point in the boot, e.g. to pump up your tyres

Re: Cold weather is here - range hit
I thought VW (like every other manufacturer) had to include WLTP in their literature/advertising… They all do it, for all types of vehicles regardless of the type of power unit. Yes they did, but I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. From memory I think the combined WLTP figure was 260 mil...

Re: Cold weather is here - range hit
I'm glad I got my car just over a year ago, I've already experienced a BEV winter so now nothing comes as a surprise. There's something to be said for buying your first EV in the middle of winter. After the initial disappointment with the actual range vs the advertised range, I could see things gra...

Re: Tyre inflating via 12v socket
I got a curly extension lead, which doesn't take up much space when not in use. But try to get a good quality one. Mine is nearly on full stretch to get to the front near-side wheel and I've already had to do a solder job on the socket.

Re: Range declining with cooler temperatures
Two questions about pe-conditioning the battery: 1) Is it known for sure that turning on the heating does actually pre-condition the battery? I can't see anything about it in the manual. Assuming the answer to 1 is "Yes": 2) If you don't have access to a charger, is it really worth using t...

Re: Matrix LED headlights
Are there any scenarios where you would turn the matrix lights off? I heard someone mentioning that they might not be suitable for driving on the motorway. I've had virtually no experience of driving with lights so far so I can't really comment, but the manual advises the following: System limits T...

Re: We Connect App whilst charging
We used a public charger today for the first time since the app update and the same thing happened to us. Very frustrating if you want leave the car to have a coffee or go shopping, but don't want to have people waiting for you to get back to your fully charged car so they can use the charger.

I don't know how much these delays are related to the global shortage of chips, but a recent Economist podcast had an interesting article about it here:

The item starts about 8 minutes in, but unfortunately you'll have to put up with a couple of adverts before you get there.

Fan runs while charging - is it normal?
I usually charge the car at home using the VW Granny charger. Over the last few days I've noticed that a fan is running continuously while charging. I'm assuming that it's due to the heat (the car is currently in the shade with an air temperature of 30°c) but I'd like reassurance that it's nothing t...
