Putting the car in P is what you should be doing to access the boot. I’m not sure who you are expecting is going to walk round behind your car while you are still in reverse gear. It wouldn’t be me!

Thanks for those suggestions, they mirror our own thoughts! We do plan to avoid motorways as much as possible but are wary of charger availability elsewhere. We may schlep through most of France (which we already know better) on the autoroutes and come off them nearer the south, but with the caveats...

I enable the price cap in the Ohme app, set to my Octopus Go cheap night rate. This seems to be effective in preventing immediate charging.

Of course when you do want to charge straight away, you have to go into the app and temporarily disable the cap. I usually forget!

Octopus offer a free Electroverse card (was Electric Juice) which acts as an RFID card for a large number of different charging companies and sends the bill to your Octopus account. Works great, it’s how these things should be done.

Yes, actually getting 3.0 is the problem. But when you have it, scheduled charging works perfectly (for me anyway).
