So you don’t have to change “Driving on the left” to “ Driving on the right”?

(And by the way I’m sure this used to read the other way round, or am I imagining that?).

Re: New owner - couple of questions re cameras

Putting the car in P is what you should be doing to access the boot. I’m not sure who you are expecting is going to walk round behind your car while you are still in reverse gear. It wouldn’t be me!

Have you just got the car recently? It can take a few days for this sort of stuff to filter through.

It shouldn’t need to but, you know, this is VW software…

Re: Driving in icey conditions

ICE is all those old boring cars with Internal Combustion Engines, i.e. running on petrol or diesel. ESC is Electronic Stability Control which helps stop your car sliding all over the place in slippy conditions by adjusting power to each wheel as necessary and/or applying braking. Very clever stuff,...

Re: Driving in icey conditions

RWD presents no problems when you are travelling in a straight line. But it’s physics, if you are turning out of a junction say on a damp road and you accelerate too fast you can definitely provoke a flick of the tail - albeit the car will do a great job of catching itself. It’s part of driving to b...

Re: Car shooting forward

Sometimes I think auto hold would be engaged but it’s not, you definitely can’t just assume it is on, I’ve learned to always check it has lit up on the dash. I think it happens when I press the brake a little casually, kind of rolling my foot from accelerator to brake. You have to press the brake qu...

Re: WeConnect ID app for route planning?

Thanks for those suggestions, they mirror our own thoughts! We do plan to avoid motorways as much as possible but are wary of charger availability elsewhere. We may schlep through most of France (which we already know better) on the autoroutes and come off them nearer the south, but with the caveats...

Re: WeConnect ID app for route planning?

I am very interested in this discussion because my wife and I are planning a European tour over several weeks. I say planning, but actually we are just going to head wherever we feel like going, booking accommodation as we go. Dare I take the thread slightly off track and ask for any recommendations...

Re: A Better Route Planner

I find it works very well but it does seem to be very conservative in estimating how far you can go, you will arrive with much more charge left than it estimated or it may try to divert you to a charger earlier than you would like. You can deal with this by buying an OBD Bluetooth dongle which then ...

Re: Charging Weirdness !

I enable the price cap in the Ohme app, set to my Octopus Go cheap night rate. This seems to be effective in preventing immediate charging.

Of course when you do want to charge straight away, you have to go into the app and temporarily disable the cap. I usually forget!

I would say 180 miles was fairly typical at the moment. Still, spring starts next week!

You do understand that the 12v battery has nothing whatsoever to do with the range of the car?

Re: New OVo Uk - EV charge tariff

There is also the big plus that the car charging can be done at any time, not just in the small hours.

Interesting that the almost identical Cupra Born is compatible, but no sign of any VW vehicles.

Thanks for the heads up, MattP.

Octopus offer a free Electroverse card (was Electric Juice) which acts as an RFID card for a large number of different charging companies and sends the bill to your Octopus account. Works great, it’s how these things should be done.

- plug and charge functionality could be very useful, especially when it's raining!. Will it work with all/most chargers though? I can answer this one as Octopus have set me up on Plug and Charge. It's currently only available at Ionity. As it is part of the iso 15118 spec, it can come to them all,...

Re: BP Pulse charger - Is it just me ??

I have an Ohme charger not the BP one, but my app has a setting where you can set a price cap to charge at. I set this to the cheap Go night time rate. It works perfectly, preventing any charge from happening except in the cheap times. To the extent that if I do want to charge at another time, I hav...

Re: New / Updated ID.3 revealed

It won't make a majority happy, but the upgrade path for 3.1 > 3.2 appears to have been very easy, some people getting it done while sat in the dealership at handover. There is a small chance that the most difficult bits are over with for newer purchases. (this comment will come back to haunt me in...

Yes, actually getting 3.0 is the problem. But when you have it, scheduled charging works perfectly (for me anyway).
