Thanks for this. Are your Michelins self-sealing? I have neither a spare wheel nor a repair kit (or even a jack). 19" wheels.

Re: Wireless Android Auto after 3.2 update

I've never had an issue in two and a half years to be honest with wireless or by cable, both work but prefer cable due to the charging plate being unreliable. Are we on the same page? I'm talking about Android Auto function, displaying phone apps including Google Maps on the infotainment screen. Th...

Re: Tyre noise

I had a look at blackicircles.com for tyres suitable for my Tour - they publish a noise rating and according to them the Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance C+ SealTech have a rating of 67db but the Bridgestone Weather Control A005 B-Seal have a rating of 72db. I'm not sure how those figures are arr...

Thanks for this. I've always liked Continental tyres and I'm likely to choose them next time my car needs new tyres.

Re: Solar + Battery thoughts

In case it's of any help, I've had my system for about three years now. 12 x 375W panels, 5kW inverter, Tesla Powerwall 13.5kWh battery. All in the system cost about £14,000, split roughly evenly between the solar and the battery. I don't think the Tesla Powerwalls are currently easy to come by, so ...

Re: Wireless Android Auto after 3.2 update

Update after using wireless Android Auto for a couple of weeks: It's mostly great but occasionally it fails to connect to my Google Pixel 7 Pro phone. When I get in the car sometimes it comes straight up with Android Auto, sometimes it shows an icon for Android Auto which you have to tap in order to...

Tyre noise

Tyre noise, subjectively, is more of an issue in an electric car because there's little or no motor noise, so tyre noise and wind noise become more evident. My ID.3 is coming up to three years old now, and until it went in for its software 3.2 update recall it was on the original Goodyear tyres. The...

Re: ID3 charging with a Zappi

I don't usually charge my car from excess solar, preferring to charge it using Octopus Go cheap overnight rate. However I think I remember learning some time ago that the ID.3 monitors charging and if it stops and starts again more than a few times (3?) the car decides there may be a problem with th...

Re: Guessometer broken after 3.2 Update

Thanks guys. I manually resync'd and after a while I noted it's now reading a reasonable approximation.

I'm very glad the battery % now shows in the instrument binnacle. I'll rely on that.

Guessometer broken after 3.2 Update

I charged my car to 100% last night, and this morning the mobile app is reporting the charge state is 100% and 132 miles of range. Yesterday before charging it said 70% and 90 miles range. Before the 3.2 update if I charged to 100% the app would report 230 miles of range - and that would prove to be...

Re: Odometer not updating in App

I have a similar problem - the app in my case shows 0 miles. I assume we're all talking about the VW mobile app, and from the home screen we're tapping 'Vehicle Health' and the first two lines on the subsequent screen show 'Total Distance', which in my case shows 0 mi, and Next service - which in my...

Window winder buttons - Journalists just don't get it

Am I alone in getting hot under the collar with motoring journalists, in particular their reviews of the ID.3 and some of the things they complain about. I think they probably read each other's previous work, and then echo the complaints that others have raised. So, I can sympathise, somewhat, with ...

Re: Wireless Android Auto after 3.2 update

Update: reassured that Sidehaas has it running trouble-free I tried again. The car parked on my driveway and both car and phone connected to my home wifi network. Phone and car paired on bluetooth. Still no joy. Tried various things, to no avail until I tried turning the phone's bluetooth transceive...

Re: Wireless Android Auto after 3.2 update

Android Auto has always worked reliably wirelessly for me since the car was new with 2.3. You do not need to enable a wireless hotspot from either the car or the phone. This might cause issues. The initial connection is made via Bluetooth and the phone/car will then communicate via Bluetooth or wif...

Wireless Android Auto after 3.2 update

My car has just had its software 3.2 update, and I've been looking forward to being able to use Android Auto reliably. I've never been able to get it to work at all wireless, and under software 2.4 with a USB connection I generally had to delete the mobile device on the infotainment screen and recon...

Re: 3.2 Update Woes

So sorry you're having such a bad experience. Mine came back yesterday, the dealership had it over a week. The software update failed the first attempt near the end of the process, and they had to repeat the last stage, which thankfully went okay on the second attempt. My car didn't have any battery...

It'll appear as a tiny padlock symbol at the top of the main app screen next to your car's name. Thanks for this. I can see the tiny padlock symbol. I guess that is the indicator that the car is locked. The function is supposed to cover lock, windows and lights - so I'll have to experiment to see h...

Re: 3.2 Update woes

Update: I collected my car from the dealership today, it now has four Bridgestone tyres in place of the nearly-worn-out Goodyears. For free, so that's a win. The software update has worked and provided extra functions. I used the SHOP button on the infotainment screen to sign up for We Connect and W...
