Re: Is now the time to pull the trigger on an ID3 order?
A base ID3 is a good solid choice. Plenty of standard kit, very nice build and performance, ‘competitive’ price. Absolutely a sellers market so no real price incentives. The best you can probably do is look at Motorway to sell rather than trade in. I’d check on the latest delivery times with a deal...

Re: Is now the time to pull the trigger on an ID3 order?
Cash deals? You might get a freedealership keyring with your keys, that's about it. It's a sellers market right now, due to la k of supply. Full RRP and a long wait is pretty much what to expect right now. April-Aiug 2021was the time to buy an ID3 - £2500 grant, £1750deposit contribution, £1000.Euro...

Re: Bridgestone Turanza tyres and punctures.
Bridgestones have a rock hardcompound, that's why the ride is so poor with them. You'll immediately noti e an improvement in ride quality if you swap them for Conti/Michelin/Goodyear. The Turanza tyres that come with the ID3 have a relatively short service life because they only came with 5.9mm trea...

Re: Keyfob size
You won't need a Faraday pouch for the key, as long as you can keep it still. The current generation of keys go to sleep and don't broadcast any signals within a minute of being still wherever they're being stored.

Re: The reason I / you decided on the ID.3
I'm sure if VW could build a car in 1/3 of the time it does now, far cheaper than it does now as per those Giga casting comments, and not comoromise on the way it drives, they'd be on it like a seagull on seaside chips. The drums take some criticism from everywhere. Do they realise that rear discs a...

Re: The reason I / you decided on the ID.3
Yeah 2270kg is maximum fully loaded ‘safe’ weight. EV database says ID3 1805kg unladen. As comparison a new Niro EV is 1757kg Megane etech 1711kg So there might be some room for improvement … In the grand scheme of things, the whole car difference isn't a lot, we're talking 3-6%. Am I right in thin...

Re: The reason I / you decided on the ID.3
3. Knowing it's a super heavy car, not enough use of aluminium or light weight materials. (Lighter means more efficient, better handling etc). I'd be interested in where you think the substitutions could be made, Aluminium would certainly drive the cost up and in many cases in order to achieve the ...

Re: The reason I / you decided on the ID.3
Using a fair bit of Aluminium doesn't save so much weight as the cancel out the weight of the battery array vs ICE drive train. Steel body panels are so thin now with hot pressing/annealing tech that even comparing the MK7 Golf R (all steel) to the Audi S3 (about 40% aluminium in the bodywork) only ...

Re: Sports seats?
I'd be interested in driving an ID3 with the sports seats, I am not unconvinced that the perceived handling improvments in the Born aren't in some way attributable to the sports seats. Even with 2 borns and a vested interest in supporting the myth, I really don't think the Born's suspension is set ...

Re: Sports seats?
They look awesome and if I could have got them I would have, though someone here did they they're uncomfortable for long journeys. As someone who's susceptible to the occasional back ache, they are incredibly comfortable, but I do find the ID3 seats comfortable too. When I swapped out our ID3s for ...

If you want an ID3 with sports seats in the UK,you need to get a Cupra Born.

Re: 2.4 update and battery replacement
Got a call yesterday from the dealer, saying to expect a letter from VW about upgrade and battery replacement. They are currently taking bookings for this - from November. I got a letter this week for both ID3s to upgrade, and to rell meI need an annual service doing on them - they think I still ha...

Re: 2.4 update and battery replacement
That was lucky finding stock. Less luck and more lack of the usual procrastination I usually go through when buying a new car. Just found what I wanted on Autotrader when the launch stock was coming through, and was willing to travvel for the few E-boosts around. There are no new E-boosts on autotr...

Re: Integrated dash cam from aliexpress
I think "Betty W" on the Borngorum has one side is pleased with it. I just refitted my Thinkware F770 front and back dashcams. I am a bit dubious of really cheap cams, wondering how well they will perform under low light or rain, or high speed etc. The specs for processing etc look quite g...

Re: Bridgestone Turanza Eco 215/55R18 95T (B-Seal)?
They're doing the same with media connectivity cables. The car should come with them, and if you ask they'll dig you some out, but if you don't ask, you don't get. If I had to.guess, I'd say the cars are supposed to come with a mobility kit and cables, but the dealership has to order them for all ne...

Re: 2.4 update and battery replacement
I have ordered the cupra born V2 e-boost in that lovely blue. Which is basically an ID3 lol. Was that or the polestar 2. I nearly went for a Born. Thinking logically, wouldn't it be right to assume that whatever the Born's software is, then the ID range is heading for the same. And if the Born's is...

Re: Slow driving sound emission
Hi all I understood that there was a legal requirement that and electric car is set up to emit a sound when driving at slow speeds - in carparks and the like. I don't think mine does. Can anyone clarify this matter for me as I do a lot of slow driving in pedestrian areas as part of my job and peopl...

Cutbacks? It seems that everyone who got an ID3 last year on 18" steelies or East Derrys got the tyre mobility pack.
