Re: Should my Car have a Reversing Camera (and other things)
Assuming we've discounted the possibility of a grey import knowingly sourced by the lease company, this is a situation where I'd be looking for a reduction in lease rates to live with the missing equipment, or reject (keep driving it until a replacement arrives). If this is a genuine misbuiild then ...

Re: VW dealer rip-off?
Never. That's a complete p-take.
They're usually grateful for having some used stock to sell. Last few cars I've got rid of to a specialist car buyer, as dealerships generally offer less- they want a higher margin on used cars.

Re: ID3 Software Update v2.3
Had a message this morning saying software update do I want to view information, I was driving so didn't press anything. When I got back in the car the message had disappeared and there was not information on the update page. Did this mean that the update has been applied? the version number is the...

Re: Home charging?
I'm guessing the granny version of the Ohme is different because that has to be the least intlligent or useful piece of kit I have ever used. Why is that? That intrigues me too. I don't have the granny charger variant, but I'm under the impression that it's the same slimline unit, but with a 3 pin ...

Re: Should my Car have a Reversing Camera (and other things)
Thanks, that is interesting. The car is leased via Tusker who supply my company car scheme and the car was supplied by a VW dealership in Swindon. The mirrors don't appear to fold although there is a selection on the door to make them fold. It also lacks the rearview camera and variable boot floor....

Re: Home charging?
Most reliable scheduled charging seems to be with the Ohme, which is why I went with it. Tell the app what tariff you're on and tge charger knows when is cheapest. You can tell it to only charge when it's cheap. Tell the car at what state of charge (e.g. 80%) you want charging to stop, leave the sch...

Re: Should my Car have a Reversing Camera (and other things)
All Family spec should have a rear view camera and all ID3s regardless of trim have folding mirrors. You've either got a misbuild or a grey import from a RHD country that doesn't have those items (Eire or Malta most likely) if you don't have those. You did buy from a proper VW dealership rather than...

Re: Lane assist
Before switching them off I suggest you ask yourself if you can defend it if you're unfortunately involved in a serious accident. Switching them off can't be done accidentally therefore it's an intentional act. I'm not a legal person but i imagine the prosecution having a field day exploring your r...

Re: Yet another mundane question.......
I don’t understand. What’s the concern about leaving a wet car in a garage? Is it so your garage floor doesn’t get wet? I suppose some of us of a certain age, remember how the bodywork of cars used to rot even if there was a hint of dampness. As I said at the outset, it might be my OCD. Car bodywor...

No stickers on either of my 2 ID3s (1 bought from Heritage group, the other from Listers). The number plates identify supplying dealer.

Re: We Connect and Lane Assist
FWIW....Our other car is a MY21 Skoda and the Lane Keep Assist remembers the previous setting, and is a simple 2-button press to activate/deactivate. Regulations and safety philosophies are constantly changing.... My ID3 operates like this now, turn it off and it remembers - thank you OBD11! If onl...

Re: ID3 folding door mirrors , scratch marks on swivel joint.
Reject the car. If there are any cosmetic rust marks on the unseen door stays too then definitely reject the car. Slightly rough machining marks for the (relatively).smooth surface. These alloy inserts are better than the alternative - plastic on plastic pivoting with horrendous creaking and c...

Re: Spotted on Electrek - "England will be first country to require new homes to include EV chargers"
According to the daily mail yesterday (so take it with a pinch of salt), new home/workplace chargers won't charge during peak times. You'll have to override/consent every single time. The Hovernment is apparently concerned that if everyone starts charging their EVs when they get home from work, the ...

Re: Unlock using key seems inconsistent
I have a Max, and have found that the unlocking doesn’t respond to the fob immediately. Usually only use it when I want to remove the charge cable and that requires two unlocks to release. It’s a bit worrying when you stand there pushing the button and nothing happens. Another software glitch for V...

Re: 8 week ownership thoughts.
My BMW was put on a 2 year or 20k service plan oil change (long life). Why would I need to change oil if I had covered less than half of this in 3 years? It's 2 years or 20k miles, whichever is lower, not choose 20k miles and potentially give it 10 years between oil changes at 2k miles a year. Long...

Re: 8 week ownership thoughts.
My thoughts on home charger is that its a no brainer, assuming that the real range of the 56kw version is 200 mile for a company car il be able to claim 4 pence per mile (based on government advisory rates) for business miles so 200 miles would be £8, using home charge on octopus go at around 5p pe...

Re: 8 week ownership thoughts.
When the obligation to have a service done to maintain a warranty is gone, its amazing how neglected some cars are (including yours, not had an oil change in over 2 years) - should the car companies be adding extended warranty to a car that isn't being serviced to schedule? I thought Toyota did thi...

Re: 8 week ownership thoughts.
The class actions/Litigation I have seen advertised on telly (for VAG, MB, BMW, Mazda and Fiat group) and urging you to join are literally suing for compensation for having owned said cars, no mention of having been out of pocket as a result. The vast majority of people didn't have any failures out ...
