Re: VW ID3 – 4 MONTHS IN
Fantastic review - something I’d wished I had done!! Absolutely agree with everything you say and can’t really add much to your comprehensive comments. As for the voice control, it does work almost flawlessly for me but giving the command to turn the heated steering wheel off never works. Strange, ...

Re: OTA updates at 3.2
Hello, this may seem a daft question but how to I install this? Last 2-3 days this has come up but it never lets me press install - it’s greyed out. It has a warning sign to say close windows and doors and turn off side lights, they are off but it doesn’t install. Then when I come back to the car a...

Re: Locked out
Just had a quick look and roadside recovery for id range is 3 years, so you should still be covered - I'd phone customer service and see what they say. See link https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/owners-and-services/servicing-and-parts/breakdown-and-repairs/roadside-assistance.html Thanks. Since I hav...

Re: Bridgestone punctures (ID3)
I have a 72 plate ID3 in rural Norfolk, England. I like the ID3 BUT I have now had seven punctures (YES, 7 punctures) in less than 18 months. I have never had this problem with any of my previous cars so have come to the conclusion there is a design issue. The width between the treads on the Bridge...

Re: Zappi charging slowly
I have just been experiencing this same thing recently. I have an ID.3 with a Zappi v1. I use the ECO+ override timer for night charging and in recent months have only been getting 4kW max. Putting the charger in Fast mode gives me 7 kW. I tried recently also using the timer in the car as i have th...

Yes, that's the same one I've seen people showing on Facebook. Lots of people have done it.

Re: OTA updates at 3.2
I can only assume this is 3.2.1 as VW said that would be starting to be rolled out to cars on 3.1 and 3.2 a couple of weeks ago. Lots of people on the Facebook groups have had it.

Re: Winter range
I'd say you are doing pretty well. I tend to expect 200-220 in summer and 180 in winter. If there is standing water, high winds or unusual cold it can be less. 58KWh Max Pro Perf here. At 80% battery the car is saying 143 miles! When driving it it’s generally saying 3.0 miles per kWh since charge. ...

Re: Door mirror woes
Shocked that this last post is 2021!! Ive had my ID3 for 18months, it was 12 months old when I bought it.. Just tried to get in and my wing mirrors will not open, either when I unlock the car, try to press the button on door rail, or set of at over 20 mph. Not done it before except on occasions whe...

Re: Winter range
I also notice a significant miles per kWh drop in winter and I put that down mainly to the heating. Which actually raises a question? How on earth do I get the car to remember the heating setting I had last time? Getting in the car and setting off it seems to default to 22degC with the A/C on (for ...

Re: Battery health check on 2nd hand car?
Many thanks sidehaas. I will certainly get an OBD and monitor the battery once I buy. One of the cars I'm interested in with under 20k miles is "back at the battery centre having some work done ". I'm not sure if that's good (as it will have been checked) or bad (as it needed to go back)....

Re: Battery health check on 2nd hand car?
I believe some VW dealers can, but probably not all, and I'm not sure it's worth much really. It's worth asking the dealer though. The warranty is actually to 70% after 8 years / 100k miles. You shouldn't read anything in to the GOM, especially if they have had it doing lots of short drives with the...

Re: Replacement windscreen problems
They have glued the sensor back on incorrectly. I don't have my car to hand at the moment for a picture but this has come up a few times. Here are some photos of badly fitted screens from the Facebook owners group...that had to be redone. Should be covered by autoglass or insurance I'd have thought....

Re: ID.3 Battery Warranty Recall
All these examples are just due to the GOM estimates.
In particular when you get a software update the estimate become based only on consumption since the update, so if it's winter they drop. None of the recent posts above indicate a problem. It'll come back in spring.

Re: Official post on VW ID. Drivers Club FB group regarding updates
I did not have it to start with, but it later appeared. Just keep trying every so often. From the myvolkswagen website, you need to click the little button with your initials in it and then click settings. There was another menu to click through after that which I've forgotten but you can search aro...

Re: Software Update
If it's truly "pretty crap" and "full of bugs" then it's likely you actually have a control module fault somewhere. It depends on the nature of the bug, but a lot of things people put down to ID3 software bugs aren't. “Pretty crap” was in reference to the miscommunication from V...

Multiple people on the Facebook groups have reported similar, it's likely a server fault. Just wait and it will come back.

Re: buying second hand - advice!
Give it a really good test drive. Look out for any error messages. . Make sure you try out the infotainment screen and the haptic controls. You do get used to these over time (and then they work very well) but it's worth making sure you aren't totally averse to them as some seem to be. Check what so...
