Re: ID3 1st Edition Rear light failure

I doubt the id.3 has any light bulbs, all lights seem to be LED's. These are not generally a replaceable item, much like the LED's lighting up your TV screen, if they fail it's a workshop job.

Re: How to play CDs

Rip them to a USB stick and plug into the car. You can get double sided ones with type A at one end and type C at the other. If you have a spare USB A stick you can buy adapters to convert to type C, the one in the car.

Re: 2.4 update and battery replacement

One thing I have noticed since 2.4 is that the mirrors don't unfold on unlocking if the outside temperature is 0.0 or less degrees. They unfold as soon as you press the brake pedal to start the car up. Another thing is the interior lights behavior. When you park the car and open the door the lights ...

Re: ACC and SCC replacement & activation?

The new on seems to have an H after the model number, could this be significant? Maybe a newer unit not compatible with the car?

Re: ID3 servicing.......... simply explained

We had an offer of 1st service at 2 years and MOT at 3 years for £199. This was back in November when we had the new battery and 2,4 software. We took this up at the time as I didn't think it was too bad. It seemed like a special VW offer not the dealers.

Re: Battery capacity

Our 58kWh life has a similar mileage, it displays about 260 miles in the summer but this drops to about 210 at the moment so smaller percentage drop to your Tour. 22% verses 42% (thanks google). I nearly always charge to 100% if I'm using the car shortly afterwards. I doubt I will keep it for 8 year...

Re: Preheating

If plugged in and charging it will use power from the mains. You can tell from the app, the charge rate drops to about 2 kWh for the first few minutes then to about 4 kWh as the cabin heats up. If you have 2.4 or later the battery will also preheat if required by the outside temperature.

Re: Parking brake failsafes

No problems here either after 16 months and we park on a slope. At first I parked with the wheel turned to minimise damage but now trust the car. I think electronic parking brakes are pretty much standard on most electric cars and increasingly on all cars.

Yes but the RCD would need to be a type A to meet the current regs.

Re: key fob battery

One of our key fobs stopped opening the doors yesterday but would still allow the car to start so I assume this takes less power. The LED didn't light up at all but I hadn't noticed it. Luckily the car was at home so we had the spare key. Battery replacement was very easy and took about 5 minutes. T...

Re: Driving on snow

The steepest was 16% with quite a lot of snow and it just sailed up. The biggest problem was on narrow parts of the road, I stopped but others coming the other way didn't. A DPD van went a bit sideways but stopped in time to let me past.

Re: Software update query

If you don't have the We Connect ID app you won't get any software updates. Our car is the same age as yours and came with 2.1, it then had an over the air update October '21 to 2.3. It then went in to the dealers in November this year for a new 12V battery and an update to 2.4 ready for the long aw...

Driving on snow

I had a 30 mile round trip this morning, mainly on untreated country roads in Wales. There were a few hairy moments but generally an easy car to control and the traction, possibly due to the weight was excellent. The car was covered in about two inches of frozen snow, a brush didn't touch it. I plug...

Re: Your next car?

We are very pleased with our ID3 after 10K miles in just over 12 months, I would certainly buy another one in a couple of years time. We haven't had any problems whatsoever. Not sure why people complain about the software being slow, you can drive the car within a couple of seconds of getting in. Th...
