Re: Family Trim - No Assistance Pack Plus option
Anyone know why VW don't let you spec 'Family' trim with Assistance Pack Plus? Forces you to opt for Max option. CleanShot 2021-08-30 at 23.34.13.png Family already has most of the assistance pack plus spec as standard, There's not a lot VW allows you to spec on the Family - it's well equipped alre...

Re: Why did you get an ID.3?
Not being an eco warrior (given Lithium battery rew material mining techniques and the amount of truly renewable energy supplying the grid), I really don't think I'm saving the world with 2 ID3s. If I didn't have the capability for a home charger, there's no way I'd have an EV right now - for the i...

Re: Why did you get an ID.3?
Drop in price down to upper Golf levels, as big inside as my A4 (boot excluded) and the opportunity to pay coppers in running costs as I hardly ever charge away from home was a great motivators with another £475 VED charge coming up for the A4. Not being an eco warrior (given Lithium battery rew mat...

Re: Life or Family
Matrix headlights. I have very little opinion on this. Bought our ID3s in May and have only had 1 trip out in the pitch black, with the Life - very good. The Matrix lights will be better but probably only really come into their own on an unlit twisty B Road when all the pivoting comes into play. Th...

Re: Life or Family
I'm in the rare position of having both a Family and a Life in the household. The Family has nicer looking seat cloth, the Life's looks very retro like MK2 Golf Driver. Not a big issue. The Family's pano roof does allow the car interior to heat the car up quicker when parked up, but the cloth slidin...

Yes they do offer 5 day. https://insurewithvolkswagen.co.uk/Library/Pdf/5-day-policy-booklet/26945_VW_5%20Day%20Policy_NAV_FINAL.pdf i see no mention of excess so my guess is £1000 :-p i did not use it when i got mine. Thanks for posting the link. I have emailed them to find out what the excesses a...

Re: Why did you get an ID.3?
I had a BMW 320D auto and switched to VW ID.3 Pro not that I'm an eco warrior but heard good reviews and as I'm a frequent visitor to london and various restrictions being imposed on diesel driven cars I wanted a good change. However, I'm facing issues with public charging points and the endless ap...

Re: Unexplained reduced range
I think it does. If I’m on a motorway trip the range plummets to start with then stabilises. This would suggest it’s adjusting to a new m/kWh. I'd agree with that. If you're driving around with no aircon and have range X miles, when you put aircon on, the projected range takes an instant hit, maybe...

I call "bollocks" on that blog. Custom manufactured tyres specific to a car? No way, not unless you're in a Ferrari. When I've bought a replacement tyre "off the shelf" of the same type that came with my car, never noticed any difference. Every time I've ditched Bridgestones for ...

Re: Beware the congestion charges in London
We're having a bit of a road trip next week - down to Southampton for a few days, then Legoland Windsor, then staying at Wembley for a few days while getting the tube into Central London for sightseeing. I shouldn't stray anywhere near the ULEZ zone. Agreed though, shouldn't take more than a day to ...

Re: ID3 Business trim discontinued
Unrelated question have no home charger , so will use only public chargers i am guessing that will still cost less than petrol / diesel running costs? Rapid charging can cost an average of 35p/kWh, and a year-round average consumption figure might be 3.5 miles/kWh, so that gives a nice simple avera...

Re: Rear Tyre Wear
I took delivery of an ID3 in late February 21, the rear tyres need replacing after 7500 miles , evenly worn. Has anyone else had the same experience? Not much joy from the dealership or VW technical services. Thanks What's the tread depth? Some dealers try to coerce you to replace at 3mm, the Bridg...

Re: Octopus Charger query
No real advantage. You get the Ohme for £200 and then end up paying £400 for an independent sparky to fit it with all required ancillaries, no grant. You spend £600 for a Government approved installer eligible for the grant towards a "£950" installation. Same end result. If you know a good...

Re: 80% charge limit
Leave the charge limit to your car (or ID connect app) and the charge scheduling to your charger. Your charger should not charge beyond the limit set by the car/ID connect if you haven't also set a charging limit for the charger's app.

Re: ID.3 vs. Genuine VW tire pressure sensors TPMS
Tyre pressure monitoring systems does not actually measure the tyre pressure but monitor the wheel speeds using the ABS sensor. The system then looks for any mismatch in rotation speed between the wheels indicating that there has been a change in overall circumference and then flags this as a tyre ...

Re: Lunatic used car valuations
So it is true that used car prices are crazy at present because everyone wants decent secondhand rather than buying new as the bubble is about to burst as everyone goes electric over the next few years. Saying that, who would buy a car right now. ID3 lease prices 200 to 250 a month with decent mile...

Tbh I’d see how you go. You never know how traffic may reduce consumption - or cold/wet weather may reduce… And when you feel like a coffee/wee etc! Probably the best course of action. Was just hoping to find a charger within walking distance of our chosen place to eat to be economical with our dri...

Re: Motorway speed power consumption
There’s a new 120kw InstaVolt south of Sheffield - less than a mile from the M1. Perhaps a 20-30 min stop there is easier than a premier inn walk? Can you PAYG with instavolt or do you have to join up? Trying to get at least 180 miles before needing to charge, because if I do that, I'll be able to ...

Re: Motorway speed power consumption
I'm trying to find a fast charging station around Sheffield/to Nottingham just off the M1 that is walkable from a Premier Inn. We have a Newcastle to Southampton drive soon and the kids like the unlimited breakfast (and I like the fact that kids eat free!) - so wanted to break the journey up, seems ...
