Re: iD3 refusing to charge on public chargers
The octopus Electroverse app is really good. Seems to list all the chargers with a decent interface and range of filters. Free and works with car play etc… you don’t need an octopus electric universe charge card either. A nail in the coffin of WattsUp I think… 2 weeks ago I tried 3 chargers with a ...

Re: U.K. configurator now showing Business, Style and Tour
you can buy a top spec mg4 for nearly 7 grand less than id3s new cheapest spec, im struggling to see where VW are going with this. for me VW need to look at a id3/golf size electric car for around £28k, pushing prices up by 5k or more is just going to cause customers to look elsewhere. Have you see...

Re: U.K. configurator now showing Business, Style and Tour
Hopefully the car world will eventually get on top of supply and start to bring new prices down like Tesla have. In the meantime, used prices are becoming a bit more reasonable. I doubt EVs will come down in price directly across most marques, more likely they'll keep the price high and spec better...

Re: Charging speed in the cold
Ideally no, but it was Christmas. The Christmas Elves don't let any degradation happen on Christmas Day. Seriously though, I wouldn't kick myself for the occasional infraction of VW's battery recommendations. You can treat your battery in the worst perceived way of constantly charging to 100% and t...

Re: Good car, crap infrastructure.
Wetherby Moto Services have a new bank of 8 x 150kW Grudserve chargers, and they're quick - was pulling 81kW last week. The crappy old ones pulling circa 30kW also still in place and operational.

Re: 1 hour, 30 miles into ownership and the front safety camera has failed
How has the weather been with you? Our CRV lost lane assist, ACC etc when the sensor/camera was covered in Ice and snow, when it melted it was all good! Definitely worth considering - regularly get these messages if you don't wipe them clean or defrost. Can't expect a dirty or obscured sensor to wo...

Re: Charging speed in the cold
In my Cupra Born last week (same as the ID3, under the skin), I did a 500 mile round trip. It was a bit warmer, 5.5C, but after leaving home at 100%, I did 170.miles before wanting a charger. Had picked a "chargepoint" charger at Retford because it was supposed to be 38p per kWh with my Oc...

Re: Post software V3.0 range…….
drive mode set to eco and set ACC to 58/58 on motorway and turn off air con if you can bear the cold. B mode seems much more economical to me than D mode which is weird as on the Mini PHEH (20 mile electric range) d mode was far more economical. Happy to wear a jacket sometimes but I could never co...

Re: spare wheel
No pump or can of goop is right. If you have the raised floor, you won't get a space saver spare under the raised floor. For those without one who buy the raised boot floor, they can fix it higher than default to cover a space saver.

Re: Punctures can't be repaired
On the 19" and 20" tyres with self sealing interior, it's more of a gel than a foam, but Longmynd's right, the self sealing works best with the puncturing item removed. Plenty of other cars getting self sealing tyres to do away with spare wheels, so not an EV specific "hidden cost&quo...

Re: Software 3.0 updating now
On a long journey (>50 miles), sat ion the motorway doing 74mph, until I've done 30 miles, i'll barely crack 3 miles per kWh at 10C, and then start to improve to 3.5 miles per kWh. Same drive at 20C, the car will be up at 3.2 miles per kWh within 5 miles and drift up towards 3.8 miles per kWh. Bear...

Re: Stolen wheels
Hi monkeyhanger, Is it possible to turn the alarm off? (maybe that is the case with our ID3). I know that there is one bolt on each wheel that needs a special socket to be removed. Did you have steel wheels or alloys? In the UK at least, you didn't get locking wheel nuts or the special socket for t...

Re: Stolen wheels
Alarm on all UK spec cars, with a tilt device, so should have gone off when the car was jacked up.
Are you sure you had locking wheel nuts? For some reason, VW don't put locking wheel nuts on an ID3 if you have steel wheels rather than alloys.

Re: Parking brake failsafes
As above on the parking brake - the brakes are "wound on". If there's a failure after successful winding on, the brakes are bound and would be troublesome to release. Not experienced it, nor heard any failures. Had electronic brake on 2 previous Golfs without issue also. I'm a skeptic of L...

Re: Alarm goes off every night and day
My Born's alarm went off at about 04:15 this morning. I'm guessing that it coincided with the car reaching its 80% set charge limit. I'm using the ID3 Wake profile for my Ohme charger.

Re: All season tyres recommendation for ID.3 with 18" alloys?
Thanks folks, sounds like the Michelin CrossClimate 2 might be the way to go. Only thing is Kwik Fit doesn't seem to have the 18". And Halfords only offers me the Michelin CrossClimate SUV, not the CrossClimate 2. Michelin website says the 215/55R18 99V XL or 215/55R18 95H will fit, but it's c...

Go buy some cross climates - then we'll have the warmest winter on record.
