Re: 2.1 update confirmed

A couple of questions / comments: My VW customer service person contacts me by phone regularly, however I send detailed emails of issues and get back single word or single sentence replies. So on a couple of occasions we have heard different things during telephone calls i.e. it will be fixed by 26...

Re: Wifi connection

I have a Ubiquiti external access point near my ID.3 and it is set to WPA Personal, WPA2 Only with AES/CCMP Only encryption. It is broadcasting on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. I was able to connect my ID.3 on v2.0 software without any difficulty. I won't know whether v2.1 will connect just a easily until i...

Re: 2.1 update confirmed

Unfortunately I join the list of people whose ID.3 has failed the 2.1 update because the "gateway control unit is faulty" and needs to be replaced. I will update this post when I find out how long I'm going to have to wait for one to be delivered to my dealer. If we, the owners of these c...

Yep. It's on my list of issues that I gave to the dealer when I took my car in for the 2.1 update.

Re: Battery Temperature

Wouldn’t you have though an indicator would have been incorporated in to the dash to show us how warm or otherwise that car battery is? Or am I just being a bit daft ... Not daft at all. My Nissan Leaf has a battery temperature gauge. But then it doesn't have any battery temperature control so this...

Re: 2.1 update confirmed

Just had a call postponing my 2.1 update (was booked in for Monday). It seems that they are experiencing a high number of failures, many requiring parts, some cars disabled as a result. They’ve had another fail this afternoon and don’t want to add any more to the list until they get clarity from VW...

Re: THINGS MY DEALER DIDN'T TELL ME ABOUT CHARGING

Most mobile phones' duty cycles are much more extreme than EVs. I'm guessing that your phone goes from full to nearly flat every day. When you want it to be charged you want it done as quickly as possible, except perhaps overnight where (with iOS, not sure about Android) it learns your sleep times a...

"Gateway Control Unit": told it needs replacing on 16th March -- new one estimated to arrive on 23rd March.

Re: Floor covering recall?

I was told that in some circumstances the floor covering could interfere with the accelerator pedal leading to a potentially dangerous situation. My car will be checked whilst it is in for the 2.1 upgrade.

Re: ID3 Home Charging

I hope this is the correct thread, apologies in advance if not. I have a daily commute of approx 120 miles, would it be detrimental to the battery if I were to charge to 90% daily? I would like to have some additional range available if necessary on occasion. I am new to the world of EVs and am kee...

Did you have to ask for this or are you saying that VW dealers have been told to rectify the omission?

Re: Charging at 100kW or 50kW?

My current challenge is to get from South Warwickshire to the Isle of Skye (540miles) in a single day journey in August without spending over 2 hours connected to chargers! - 1 hour is acceptable because we would normally make 3* 10-15 minute stops/driver change-overs anyway. That deserves its own ...

I have Ubiquiti access points and found that the wifi signal has to be quite strong for the car to see it. I had to install a UAP-AC-M outdoors before the car saw the wifi network.

Re: Dynamics of the aux 12v battery?

On 0783 and above the 12V is topped up from the high voltage battery so should not leave you stranded. I've always thought that this is a bit of a kludge. VW need to find the source of the problem as it does not occur on every car. Maybe I was just lucky but it did not happen to my ID.3 1st before ...

Booked in for the 15th March for the 2.1 update. Interestingly they described it as a “recall”.
