Re: I'm a bit worried about the range

Just a thought to ponder when we are considering range:- > 60kWhr is equivalent to the available energy from a modern ICE burning c.15ltr of Petrol. > 15ltr will give you c. 200 miles range at 60mpg, or 132 miles at 40 mpg - roughly the upper and lower ends of our real world ID3 ranges. > Our cars a...

Re: LHD Wipers Fitted to RHD Car

Hi Simon This is exactly the Mercedes set up, and has been for over 15 years with the same shortcomings. My thinking is that there are so many things that can fixed on the car, we need to choose our battles, and let the ones lie where there is precedence for market acceptability, even though it is c...

Re: LHD Wipers Fitted to RHD Car

I fear this is one aspect of the car there is no mileage in complaining about. I was looking at some Mercedes Vito's yesterday, both the old and current models have the same set up as the ID3, ie a single configuration, optimised for LHD but considered 'good enough' for RHD. At least VW are still su...

Mine did it too but completely passively, I didn't need to 'accept' anything.

Must have been 4g because its not connected to WiFi!

Re: Would you do it again?

I would absolutely do it again. I have been planning for a while that when the time came I'd buy an EV as my first new car. I wasn't thinking the time had come when I walked into my VW dealer in December to see the ID3, but financially the deals that were available at the end of the year were unbeli...

Re: ID3 Home Charging

[/quote] Also the ID.3 only has an 11kW transformer so theoretically would only charge at 11kW even with a 22kW charging unit. Maximum appears to be 7.2kW with Podpoint units accounting to Podpoint ID.3 page . I am not sure why it wouldn't get 11kW as stated on Volkswagen 12 facts about the ID.3 . [...

Re: Stationary Aircon (heat) only functions when charging

Hi Simon Having 'fiddled' further, I found 12v battery was ok, and didn't make any difference. Found Stat heating will work (Through App or in car 'switching') if the charge lead is plugged in even if not drawing charge at the time the heating is activated. My dealer now tells me it is only designed...

Hi Heidi
My life model has the USB-c in both locations. But good to know the rear ones are for power only, hadn't realised this.
Thanks

Re: Changing to Alloys

Hi all, ........ My question are why are VW supplying steel wheels as standard, i thought most manufacturers had alloys as standard? Is it an environmental thing? ..........Thanks Hi Matte I believe the wheel trims on steels are designed for aerodynamic optimisation. I saw a lost of WLTP range data...

Re: Your previous cars...

I thought I had a significant VAG prominence too until I started putting this together! As my first new car, the ID3 brings our fleet back up to four; joining:- • Polo SDi 140k miles; bequeathed by my father in law who bought it new in 2004. • Honda Insight Gen1 (2001) 170k miles; The first volume p...

Re: Stationary Aircon (heat) only functions when charging

Thanks Simon.
I'll try charging 12v battery.
It's also good to know, as mentioned else where, that it should work when the EV charge lead is still connected even though the charge is complete.
I'll test both and feed back the outcome.
Thanks

Re: Stationary air con

Have you tried making it work whilst on charge. On mine you get the same error message in the app but the heat does work if the vehicle is charging. Doesn't work when not charging.

Stationary Aircon (heat) only functions when charging

As a new ID3 owner I have an issue which some of you may be able to help me with. I have a November built Life Pro with heat pump. (2.0 software installed prior to delivery). In this cold weather I have been trying to use the WeConnect App to pre heat the car. After a confusing series of successful ...

Re: What are your best bits?

After over 45 years of driving and over 40 cars, this is my first new car - 'Life Pro with alloys and heat pump' , collected on 23rd December. I have been waiting for an affordable EV which was would handle our regular 150 mile journeys, would go, stop and steer in safety and comfort. The ID3 ticks ...
