I tried it - and it seems to have worked. Many thanks!

Re: Rattle
My ID3 1st Edition suffered from a rattle and I too thought it was the rear offside seat belt. Finally tracked it down to the rear seat catch recently. Resolved by wrapping the “bolt” with a small piece of paper towel! Now it’s silent at all times. I'll try the same trick you used, it may be that. ...

Re: Rattle
I had a Passat which had a similar rattle, and I discovered that the hinge pin at the bottom of the seat back, which should have a nylon or plastic sleeve, was rattling. On investigation, the sleeve was malformed and not doing its job. I got the VW dealership to replace it and the problem went away....

Re: Rattle
It's not a rear seatbelt buckle vibrating on the plastic section in-between the rear door and rear seat is it? That's a common one with cars - the buckle gets twisted, touches the plastic with the metal 'lug' and creates a soft rattling noise. Check the belts are 'in line' and noiseless. Even bette...

Rattle
My ID.3 has a rattle. It's coming from the area of the rear quarter of the car, perhaps where the rear seat back attaches to the car bodywork. It's a 'soft' rattle, I can imagine it being a wiring loom loose and tapping against the plastic bodywork in that area. It occurs at low speed when the car g...

Re: Total blackout of infotainment and instrument binnacle
Hi, in 15 months of ownership I haven't experienced this before: Mid-journey I heard a sharp 'click' or spark sound and both the infotainment and instrument binnacle screens went totally black. So... no speedometer even. After a few seconds both displays began to reboot, and within about 30 seconds...

Re: Efficiency measurement
5 miles/kWh is about 0.5 above the WLTP figures, you were never going to get anywhere near 5? As Monkeyhanger says the Hyundais with a Kona 39kWh battery have WLTP Ratings Range 190 mi Rated Consumption 230 Wh/mi Vehicle Consumption 207 Wh/mi 1610kg The Kona 64 kWh version has WLTP Ratings Range 30...

Efficiency measurement
In the far distant past (!) when I drove an ICE car, I was the kind of nerd who obssessed about fuel consumption. With my ID.3 I'm being forced to relinquish my obssession. I hoped to achieve 5M/kWh but in my pattern of UK driving I don't get above 4M/kWh, and on short winter journeys I get 3 - 3.5M...

As I learned when this question was asked over at SpeakEV, there's a menu setting where you can turn it off.
System Settings > Screen > Hand Gesture

Re: 1st edition vs. current tiers
I'm not aware of any hardware changes made after the 1st Edition. All the problems have been related to software as far as I know. My 1st Edition has no hardware issues, and since its 2.1 software update it now has no software issues either. I'm very happy with the car.

Re: Hello & question re the Myenergi Zappi 2 charger 7kW
...after the Eddi has done its job on heating our domestic hot water cylinder. I don't yet have an Eddi, or for that matter a hot water cylinder. A heating engineer has suggested putting a cylinder on the input to my combi boiler. That way I can heat water with excess solar when we have some, so wh...

Re: Hello & question re the Myenergi Zappi 2 charger 7kW
Hi and welcome. I have a Zappi 2 and I'm very happy with it. To be frank, though, I hardly use it, I got a payment card with £500 credit on it from VW with my car, and I'm trying to use the credit up before it expires after 12 months, so I'm charging the car mostly at my local public chargepoint. So...

Hi Wayne and welcome. I believe that in England alloys don't come as standard even on the more expensive trims, and they're an expensive option. I don't know about voice control of the heating system. On my 1st Edition (dual zone climate) I can control it by voice, but the be honest I find the voice...

Re: Pre-Purchase Help Requested
Ah. I hope I haven't given misleading info in my previous post. Simonrg, I gather your problem is with switching on Air Condition Now, on the car's infotainment screen, when leaving the car. I've never tried doing that. I use the We Connect ID app on my (Android) phone, and tap the Air Conditioning ...

Re: Does anyone use a mobile device as a vehicle key?
Since as far as I know mobile phones are not generally fitted with the UWB transceiver used by the ID.3 and its key to communicate, I would assume that this 'mobile key' function must bypass this technology. The UWB radio signals enable the ID.3 to defeat high-tech thieves who use 'key repeaters' to...
