Re: Order Placed Today

Most UK properties are single phase only, so Max charge rate will be 7kW/32A. Best wall box is probably the Zappi, but there’s an incompatibility with the ID3 which means overnight scheduled charging doesn’t work. Unfortunately, the car doesn’t do that yet either (it’s sort of there in the 2.0 softw...

Re: LHD Wipers Fitted to RHD Car

I sent an IM to VW on their Facebook page about the wipers and got this:

Re: Would you do it again?

The best voice control in the car starts when you have Apple CarPlay - I never thought I would appreciate Siri as much but having tried to use the built-in system I’m loving Siri!! (Oh and Apple Maps compared to the built-in Nav system too!) Agreed. Siri works. The ID.3's own system is by compariso...

As per my post above yours, the UK only got the 1st Plus while other countries also had the option of the more expensive 1st Max.
Thanks for the clarification.

Re: Would you do it again?

As a counter to the above view on the 1st Edition..... I do wonder why the U.K. version is missing some of the other features that I hear our European neighbours got such as wireless phone charging, heat pump and rear speakers. That's because the UK got the 1st Edition, Europe got that and also the...

Re: Would you do it again?

Would I do it again? Probably. But the software issues are a terrible own goal on VW's part. I'm still amazed how VW got themselves into the mess they're in. Let me give you a taste (FYI, we've had the car since the end of Nov)... Bugs - our car now has the 2.0 interim release pushed out in Dec, but...

Re: Heat Pump and Range

My 2c worth... I splashed out on the heat pump on ours in the hope that it would deliver at least close to the 20-30% improvement in efficiency that VW promised. I don't have another ID.3 without a heat pump to compare it with, but we're a two-car household with a Tesla Model 3 LR AWD (no heat pump)...

Re: Delayed charging

Well, I tried the schedule departure time option rather then preferred times last night but it failed. I left the car with the green light flashing and the battery at 43% charge. Woke up to the battery still at 43% charge and with the charge light showing constant red. How can VW release this junk?

Re: LHD Wipers Fitted to RHD Car

It's not a geometry problem, it's a time sequence problem. The sequence now is left up, right up, right down, left down. it should be right up, left up, left down, right down for a RHD car. The LH wiper also moves closer to the screen edge than the RH one - so for a full and proper RHD setup there ...

Re: LHD Wipers Fitted to RHD Car

New to this forum (but longtime VW owner/fan/tinkerer!)...just got our ID.3 and can see what is being referred to here....I think there may be an easy fix?! From what I can see the issues being described are simply a result of which wiper is first/last to sweep the screen - they are currently 'stac...

Re: v2.0 - still room for improvement

I haven't had time to fully explore v2.0 yet but CarPlay was one thing I was looking forward to and it seems to be well implemented. It does seem to work well, I agree. The only real fault I've found is that the CarPlay screen often doesn't get refreshed after another screen has been up (e.g. clima...

Re: v2.0 - still room for improvement

Apologies if this has already been covered, this is my first post. I ordered my ID.3 at the weekend with an expected delivery of one month's time. Given that it's still being built, should I expect it to come with software 2.0 / 0783 or an older version? Thanks. Who knows? I would guess that it'll ...

Hi all, I'm considering buying an iD.3, but am really not impressed with any of the offered wheel choices, they're all downright ugly imo. I think the Andoya wheels look very nice (and they are really easy to clean): https://s7g10.scene7.com/is/image/volkswagenag/electric-electric_cars-id3-auto_car...

Re: When was 0783 version of software implemented for UK cars?

I bought my car from Listers and went to their website a little before Christmas where I found an online chat capability. I had a brief exchange with someone there who understood the ID.3 very well and once I mentioned a few of the issues I was having (airbag warning, alarm activations, interior lig...

Re: Standard Tyres?

Ours has Bridgestones fitted. They seem OK, but I have noticed a bit of rear-wheel slip when accelerating hard on damp surfaces. I guess that's not unexpected given the torque off the motor. What I have noticed is that the tread depth seems fairly shallow compared to tyres I'm used to. Maybe it's an...

Re: Noob question regarding supercharger

So, after some more digging I now know why ID3 charges slowly. It's extremely hard to get the battery warm. This very good and informative video from Nextmove explains everything. It's a German channel but subtitles are in English: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zf-ikz0wrls Key takeaways: -ID3 wit...

Re: Delayed charging

I'm having problems with it too. It just seems overly complex, and not working properly. FYI, this is what I've noticed so far: 1) If I schedule a charge a short time (10 mins or so) in the future (and the car needs a lot of charge), then it wakes up as expected and it charges. However, if I push th...

Apparently not - you'll need 2.1 in Q1 for that. Seems that release will be a general recall, whereas this is a "patch" installed when needed/requested.

Re: I'm a bit worried about the range

Before I received my car, I worked out that 'fuelling' my electric car would cost me 1/10 of what fuelling my diesel car cost. I got that wrong. I have a fairly light right foot and my Passat Estate used to do 50MPG on a run, or 40MPG around town. At £1.20/litre, that worked out at between 11p/mile...
