Apparently that's coming with 2.1.

Re: v2.0 - still room for improvement

I haven't had time to fully explore v2.0 yet but CarPlay was one thing I was looking forward to and it seems to be well implemented. It does seem to work well, I agree. The only real fault I've found is that the CarPlay screen often doesn't get refreshed after another screen has been up (e.g. clima...

Re: v2.0 - still room for improvement

Apologies if this has already been covered, this is my first post. I ordered my ID.3 at the weekend with an expected delivery of one month's time. Given that it's still being built, should I expect it to come with software 2.0 / 0783 or an older version? Thanks. Who knows? I would guess that it'll ...

Re: Wheels

Hi all, I'm considering buying an iD.3, but am really not impressed with any of the offered wheel choices, they're all downright ugly imo. I think the Andoya wheels look very nice (and they are really easy to clean): https://s7g10.scene7.com/is/image/volkswagenag/electric-electric_cars-id3-auto_car...

Re: When was 0783 version of software implemented for UK cars?

I bought my car from Listers and went to their website a little before Christmas where I found an online chat capability. I had a brief exchange with someone there who understood the ID.3 very well and once I mentioned a few of the issues I was having (airbag warning, alarm activations, interior lig...

Re: Standard Tyres?

Ours has Bridgestones fitted. They seem OK, but I have noticed a bit of rear-wheel slip when accelerating hard on damp surfaces. I guess that's not unexpected given the torque off the motor. What I have noticed is that the tread depth seems fairly shallow compared to tyres I'm used to. Maybe it's an...

Re: Noob question regarding supercharger

So, after some more digging I now know why ID3 charges slowly. It's extremely hard to get the battery warm. This very good and informative video from Nextmove explains everything. It's a German channel but subtitles are in English: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zf-ikz0wrls Key takeaways: -ID3 wit...

Re: Delayed charging

I'm having problems with it too. It just seems overly complex, and not working properly. FYI, this is what I've noticed so far: 1) If I schedule a charge a short time (10 mins or so) in the future (and the car needs a lot of charge), then it wakes up as expected and it charges. However, if I push th...

Apparently not - you'll need 2.1 in Q1 for that. Seems that release will be a general recall, whereas this is a "patch" installed when needed/requested.

Re: I'm a bit worried about the range

Before I received my car, I worked out that 'fuelling' my electric car would cost me 1/10 of what fuelling my diesel car cost. I got that wrong. I have a fairly light right foot and my Passat Estate used to do 50MPG on a run, or 40MPG around town. At £1.20/litre, that worked out at between 11p/mile...

Re: I'm a bit worried about the range

Short journeys in the cold will have a big impact on range. On a longer run, it's pretty efficient. This is a 322 mile trip today - 17.1 kWh/100km (3.6 miles/kWh). Lots of heavy rain, temps between 0 and 6 deg C. Charged at an E-On rapid - 150kW charger. 40p/kWh and worked faultlessly first time wit...

The range is just a guess. It really is a pretty meaningless number - its nickname is the GOM - Guess-O-Meter.

Re: delayed charging to benefit from cheaper electricity

Modding the charger internally is actually a sensible option. I might look into that. Answering my own post here... I think it should be quite easy to add a timer to any dumb charger. The principle is to switch the "pilot" connection (CP) which is a low-voltage signalling pin that's used ...

Re: Is it me?

I think it's fair to say that the ID.3, being their first ground-up EV design, will have some gremlins and sub-optimal design points. I'm sure the LCI will fix a lot of the issues. But that's probably 3 years away. In the meantime, so long as they fix the bugs then I'll be more than happy with the c...

Re: Good buy I3 Hello ID3

I recently got a great deal on a Family spec from Listers in Leamington. Ask for Roger Godfrey - he knows what he's talking about (which is not common when you're talking EVs!).

Re: Brake lights & regenerative braking 🔴

The threshold is between 0.7m/s^2 and 1.3m/s^2 - so about 0.1g:

Re: Brake lights & regenerative braking 🔴

On EVs during regenerative braking, the brake lights come on when a certain deceleration threshold is reached (which I think is 0.1g).

Re: delayed charging to benefit from cheaper electricity

Another solution would be to use a contactor in the wall-box circuit controlled from a simple timer. However, that'll only work if the car will start charging when power is brought up on the wall box. Could anyone confirm whether this is how the ID3 operates? I read somewhere of a guy who added a w...

Re: delayed charging to benefit from cheaper electricity

At the moment we cannot set up our ID3 to charge overnight on the cheaper electricity If we plug it in it starts charging straight away We can control, it partly by setting up charging with the app on our phone when we are actually in the car Then stopping it but we then have to wake up when the ch...
