My wife was reversing out of our drive when the car just came to a halt and was stuck in P. Trying to put it in R or D/B didn't work. So she got out of the car, locked it, unlocked it, got back in and was then able to select R and continue to reverse out of the drive. Very odd. There were no obstructions in the way.

I'm quite short and light, so if I lift myself up in the seat slightly it does this.

I read another report on a Facebook group today of someone having this while shuffling in the seat during reverse parking

Thanks. Annoying but that might explain why the car comes to an abrupt halt but it really should permit a gear to be selected once the driver is seated properly.

Has this happened when you’ve had your seatbelt on or off?

My Passat wouldn't release the park brake unless I had my seatbelt on but the id.3 doesn't appear to have any qualms about this (other than beeping with increasing ferocity).
