Had our ID3 1st edition since beginning of December and enjoying !

A few quirks and oversights as mentioned in other posts including reticle welding on the underside of bonnet!

Question for all though

During this colder weather the range (at 80%) has dropped from around 165 to 125, we pre-warm the car before setting off but this isn’t sufficient for daily commute to Bristol and back from Swindon

Seems a dramatic drop in range?
Anyone had or seeing similar
Thanks

It's not a good time of the year for any EV.

What heating do you use while driving? What "mode" do you have the car in? What type of roads are you driving? What's your average speed for that journey?

Conditioning is set at 19
Normal mode
And motorway cruise (M4/M32) very little town drive and speed at 70
Same roads etc only a week ago (and was colder) range was still around 150 to 160.
Luckily we can charge in car park before return trip home

A couple of things that may help:

Set driving mode to Eco
Set Air Con to Auto
Use 'B' on the gear selector in any stop/start traffic, 'D' in longer motorway sections
Reduce air con temperature by degree or so

Also - not sure if this is the same in ID.3 but our previous car (i3) used low voltage battery for things like heated seats so I have always used that instead of heating the whole car but not sure if that is the same here?

Agree that the time of the year is a kicker, we were getting 200 from an 80% charge, currently showing 160.

Also, don't forget that range is unpredictable anyway, it is a guess-o-meter. Our dealer told us it would get more accurate the more we drove, so after 1000+ miles the range 'settles' a bit.

We have been using as suggested it just seems this week to have taken a sudden plunge !
Last week in the really cold weather the range was greater!

Will keep an eye on it, as ok while we can charge at destination

Had a golf GTE before and the electro range in winter was always bad, as expected, didn’t expect such a large drop in the ID

Many thanks we will try driving in eco mode as we haven’t tried that one yet!

On our i3, changing to EcoPro always increased estimated range but it doesn't seem to increase it on the ID - but I have noticed it decreases slower and then also will show a greater range on the following trip. It does dampen the acceleration a bit and the regen is more 'intelligent' so adjusts according to driving environment.

Let us know how you get on and if you find out anything that works! (at this rate, we will all be hypermiling by the Summer, trying to eke out every last mile from the battery!).
