Head Restraints

Hi, I have had my Turquoise 1st edition for a week now and very pleased so far. I have purchased some tasteful (I hope) seat covers and I am having difficulty removing the front head restraints to accommodate the covers. The manual says apply pressure to a recessed actuator inside the rear seat fabric at the rear of the seat. I can feel the actuator and have done as instructed but the restraints don't want to budge. Has anyone else had the same issue or am I missing something?
