Delivery time
That's the spirit
I am going to pour a large gin and tonic and try and forget the car on order until I see something solid in writing to confirm a delivery date. At that point I will start jumping up and down

We picked our car up yesterday after ordering early June and the dealer was surprised how quick it was. It seems we got our order in just in time as they were saying waiting times are getting longer and longer. The dealer tried to order two ID3’s last week and delivery date was September - almost a year!
On a positive note we were also told our car is worth more than we paid for it - so it’s worth hanging in there! Demand is so high, and production so unable to cope we were told we could add a few thousand to what we paid and sell it tomorrow if we wanted to. We won’t though!

The official line from the factory seems to be 26 weeks, so I don’t know where they’ve got almost a year from.

I am now being told end of Feb which is 29 weeks up from 22 weeks when I ordered. I suspect even VW aren't clear as it depends on the supply of items they haven't got any control over.andrewparker wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 6:50 am The official line from the factory seems to be 26 weeks, so I don’t know where they’ve got almost a year from.
Interesting article from Reuters on chip shortage based on comments made by VW is US. It says they are expecting chip shortage to ease later this year but backlog of orders to persist into late 2022:

So I’ve made the decision and pressed the button on an id3 family pro performance in turquoise with 19” andoya alloys and the bike rack prep, the dealer has estimated 4 weeks until they can give an estimated delivery date but suggested it could be 6 months plus.

Same. I ordered mine a week ago and am still waiting for the order number but I was told at the time it would be about 6-7 months before delivery! Going to be a very long wait.Flaming76 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 12:05 pm So I’ve made the decision and pressed the button on an id3 family pro performance in turquoise with 19” andoya alloys and the bike rack prep, the dealer has estimated 4 weeks until they can give an estimated delivery date but suggested it could be 6 months plus.

Some comments on here mention waiting 4 weeks until you get an estimated delivery date. I had a copy of the order form and shows my estimated date pretty much immediately - 12th March 2022 (ordered 9th October). Is there a different estimated date that I will get? Or an updated estimated date?

The 4 weeks you are referring to is that you will get a confirmed build week usually 4 weeks before the due build week. Mine was 3 weeks before. As you have probably seen on here that things are not running that smoothly and information about the progress of our orders is lacking some what.MLB_ID3 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 8:10 am Some comments on here mention waiting 4 weeks until you get an estimated delivery date. You are right in saying. As soon as an order is placed on the VW ordering system it will give a proposed build week immediately. This subject to change. Mine was put back 1 week.

Collected today! Really happy will post some pictures up tomorrow. Dealership was strangely quiet, sales agent said they have almost next to nothing in stock in any model currently and that the lead times are getting worse. Confirmed build weeks don’t mean much either apparently, with vehicles being built a long time after they are supposed to be. Good luck everyone!

It will have been an existing order, what with it being 1st week of July and 3124**** being the order number. Usually 313*** for first week of July and BW39/40.camsoft2000 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 9:43 pm Wow, congratulations. How did you get one so quickly?! I was given around 5 months lead time (2nd week of July), but due to the way backlogs work, obviously the later you order the longer the wait.
I ordered on the 1st July with a fresh order and my order number is 3134xxxx.
My build week was confirmed as week 39. I've heard nothing more and do not expect to for another couple of weeks.

And we ordered a couple weeks after Newfie (for, it turned out, the exact same spec) and got a much higher order number (in my signature). Our confirmed build week is 40, and I have no idea when the next update might arrive

Yep, and my order number is even lower than Newfie, but honestly believe I'm well into next year before I take delivery. VW ID.3 "Never knowingly under-scheduled"....

Here's a thought, has anybody with a car/delivery date had the dealer proactively contact them with an update? I request an update every Monday. I'm starting to feel like he has an email auto-response from my email address.....
On average I chat to my sales guy 2 or 3 times a week via email. He has become more of a friend over the years I have dealt with him.
I don't need to ask him to check the status as he does this automatically when he gets into work in the morning.
Other than the system codes they see on the order they have to physically call the sales office for the particular factory of build to get any further updates. So you can well imagine those lines are busy day in day out. Like he says it will not rush the order any quicker and as long as there is an update the dealer will see it on the order b7t not all dealers diligently checked their orders.
