I can see some of us with Tours on order receiving MY21 cars in March 23 at this rate! Sincerely hope not, and would certainly be nice to get any MY23 improvements as a bit of a bonus for waiting although my wait even come March pales by comparison to many on here.

When my max arrives and it's a MY22 I'll be asking some serious questions. At this point I'm fully expecting at least MY22.5 and if it is a MY22 then that'll tell me it has been lying about part built and my dealer has been BSing me.

Yeah, you can (or rather could before 10th Feb 2022) order what ever you like, except for a 5th seat and a glass roof because of the weight. I ordered pretty much everything execept the bigger wheels as i didnt like the look of them, and there wasnt a nice electric blue colour so i stuck with moonstone grey.

Now you can only order a very basic life.

My car insurance renewal coming up next month with my ID.3 "expected" November. Anyone have any idea whether it's worth switching to a monthly payment, as if I renew for a full year and change car it may cost me rather than just starting from scratch on comparison sites. Not entirely sure though.

I pay my insurance monthly but all you are doing is actually financing the years cost, if u switch the policy gets cancelled and you are refunded pro rata less costs and fees.
Better to just renew as usual and then do a change of car on that policy.
Monthly payments don’t mean u r buying a month at a time.

I just did exactly that. My car insurance was renewed automatically, car is now gone and ID.3 being delivered tomorrow. Changed insurance details over last week and got £10 back!

I’m really hoping that they don’t move my build week back any further…. The 10 year old corsa we’d been “surviving” with has just died this morning. With all the uncertainty of when the car will come, I don’t want to go spend money on another car to then have the ID3 arrive a week later.

So after the past 3 months of status 0, I’ve spoken with the dealer today and they confirmed that I’ve moved back to status 10 with build week 9 (I think they said week commencing 27th February).

My current lease has been extended until the start of December however VW finance put in an email that they would allow me to continue to roll over my lease on a monthly basis until the ID3 arrives. My current car’s due for an MOT and service in June next year so if it did actually go on build week 9 then it should arrive just before the start of June (I’d hope).

Wow, I've just phoned up my dealership for an update on my replacement ID.3 and the build week has been moved forward to week 37 from week 41! That's the first time I've had positive news for months. But there's a downside, I was told it then usually takes 3-4 months for the delivery. Makes you wonder how it can take so long to get a car from the factory to the dealership. Hopefully it won't be quite as long as that.

I know what you mean, I had a similar decision in April when I had to decide at that point wether to extend my lease from July->January for double my current lease or get 3 months at the same price until October and then have to return the car without any chance to extend. It seemed at the time, the cars were speedingup and November would be maybe the latest it arrives so we chose the latter because we could not afford to fund both cars for a few months.
This means we will be without a car after October and these new dates in 2023 are not helping the stress this is causing.

It is the lack of information that makes it so much worse. We would be happy if they gave us a rough month it would arrive in because we can then make plans around that, but the way they build cars does not seem to involve any planning so we have to work out how much money we can gamble and constantly guess when it may turn up.

If the lease deal was not as good as it is I would have cancelled the ID3 by now and never touched VW again. Maybe the car will be so amazing and they will get their act together so in 4 years I will consider them again.

Considering your order number I wonder why your car did not get built before 314xxxxx Family Pro Performance cars that have arrived recently? Do you have additional packs or wheels etc. ?
Maybe there was a problem with the car or VW have packed the carrs in a field so tightly that they have to take them from the more recent first.

Yeah the communication has been awful. I was chatting with the dealer the other day and their rep was saying "oh chip shortage, Ukraine etc" I ended up saying - it's nothing like that. VW are selling a car that is essentially the same, couldn't be ordered for months after I placed my order, people already have theirs, and the difference is a Cupra badge. It's a business decision, not a chip shortage.

I don't get why the dealers don't put more pressure on the likes of VW for this too.

When I ordered the car the dealership selected one of the cards that they had pre-ordered in July which was the colour that I wanted. I changed the spec for the wheels to the 19" Andoya's as they have the self sealing tyres that aren't Bridgestone. I suspect the change of name and wheels reset the order to the September 22nd, but I retained the original order number. I was originally told that the build week would be week 6! so if week 37 happens that's an additional 31 weeks. Seeing all of the negative reports for the Bridgestone tyres I'm happy with the choice even if I'll forever be worried about kerbing the nice alloys.

Here she is.

Annoyingly I seem to have missed the car mats, so I've ordered some and they'll be here in the next few days.

New interior as expected, and the build quality feels spot on.

This is the Pro Performance model, so a touch over 200hp, and it goes like stink. Beautiful and smooth to drive, and my wife also loves it.

How nice to see a car exactly like what I ordered on 9th Dec 2021, 35weeks delay quoted at the time.

Great forum I can get answers to questions I have'nt even thought of most of the time. Keep thinking (and hoping) that the longer it goes on the nearer my delivery date is getting.

Like others my car is old, 2002 Passat with 238,000 miles on it, been a great car just hope it holds on a bit longer if used sparingly....

Never mind shortages etc---thats no excuse for such terrible communications from VW!

Looks really good, thanks for the photos and the description. Helped to remind me of why I have not cancelled the order yet. I am looking forward to the driving experience I remember during the test drive.

Who are they using to deliver, Brian the snail from the Magic Roundabout? Suspect that should be 3-4 weeks not months?
