Is it just me, or has Octopus again stopped new customers joining?

Have you started your switch before you then move to Go in a couple of weeks then?

Many thanks. Still doesn’t seem to allow new customers again, as I get a standard message about high prices like previously.

It let me join online - I’ve had the same message you had before. I did click on a referral link first if that makes any difference?

Anyway - I had to sign up to a fixed tarrif first (30p) then it promises it will migrate me to my smart tarrif after a period of monitoring / testing my smart meter.

Hopefully!

I've been on Octopus Go for nearly a year paying 15p during the day and 5p at night. Just had an email through about my fixed rate ending and its going up to 45p for the day and 27p for the night on Go!!! Feeling a bit sick if I'm honest. Emailed Octopus to check whether it was an error or not but that's a 300% and 540% increase. Its criminal.

Edit: I've calmed down and no regretting all of the emails I've sent to Octopus. I've re read the email they sent me and it turns out that's if I switched to another of their tariffs. If I do nothing I'll be put on on Flexible Octopus which is currently 7.5p and 27.2p. Feeling pretty stupid but that's definitely a relief

Flexible Octopus doesn't have a night rate... The rate that I'm offered for Go now is:

Unit rate (04:30 - 00:30): 30.61p/ kWh
Unit rate (00:30 - 04:30): 7.50p/ kWh
Standing Charge: 24.11p/ day

But that will vary region, I suspect.

Flexible Octopus does Eco 7 so it does have a night rate

I’m currently undergoing my 2nd smart meter failure under Octopus Go. The 1st one took 3 months to resolve and they put you on a standard tarrif while resolving… which basically nullifies any EV benefits.
The way this is heading I will have 6 months of smart meter failures in a year!

What makes no sense is the standard tariff they put you on has a night and day rate, which they can’t measure if the smart meter has failed. They tried charging me the most expensive day rate for everything…🙄

Our octopus go faster tariff ends 14 may 2022.

Looks from the quote their is no such tariff. It's either fixed for 10 months or loyal fixed again for 10 months , at dramatically increased rates !

Is it a question of shopping around , if there are any other suppliers around !

Ignore the quote and email them to remain on Go. Bear in mind though the Go rates have changed !

I forgot to ask this when I spoke to Octopus a few days ago (with view to switching) and I can't see anything definitive on the website; Do they do electric-only? Or do you have to take the gas too?

Electric only is fine. We have no mains gas here at home so are by definition electric only!

When I looked yesterday the GO rates had gone up to be comparable to the new price cap (other than the 7.5p over night). So I'll definitely be sticking with my fixed rate until it's up now.

What are the gas tariffs like with Octopus, competitive? I cannot see them on the website as it tells me it's probably cheaper to stay with my current provider.
