Switch off the sign recognition thing for the ACC and it’s a game changer. It’s BRILLIANT - magic in start stop traffic too. I use it all the time - one of the features I’d really miss if I went elsewhere.

Does it still take speed prompts from the sat-Nav data though? Presumably it does. The sat-nav can't think 3 dimensionally, and on my commute, there's a roundabout with a North-South underpass and east-west overpass, and whether I use the overpass or underpass, it thinks i'm approaching the roundabout and tries to slow me down accordingly. Presumably when I use the overpass or underpass, the car thinks i've just done some "Dukes of Hazzard" stunt maneuvre right over the roundabout.

It doesn’t matter where it gets them from - if you switch it off - it switches it off 😁

Lane assist tries to keep you in the middle of a lane all the time, but conveniently ignores or doesn't see the thing you're going wide to avoid e.g a parked car, or cone narrowing a lane during roadworks, nudging you back towards it.
Yes I had that exact issue on a test drive, I overtook a cyclist and lane assist tried desperately to keep me in the oncoming lane!

So switching the sign monitoring off also disables the sat nav prompt so it doesn't tell you that you need to slow down for a roundabout that you're passing over? Do you have to switch it off on every journey? It doesn't really affect me as I use the ACC so little, pretty much only when i'm in an average speed camera zone. I would probably use it more if it behaved as i'd expect by default.

So today I had a go at the travel assist on the born but I don’t have the same string as you in the id3

I'd suggest you come out of there without saving anything, then go back in and make a note of the full long coding string before you change anything (so you can restore it if you mess up). The Hexadecimal structure will be the same for those Bytes that matter to the Travel Assist, even if some of the other numbers wont match.

For the 3 bits that need changing as per the earlier post, there's a combination of the right tick boxes (the bytes) within each bit to get the right output. as I said previously it's a bit of a puzzle. I worked out which ticks changed E numbers to F numbers, and avoided those, then experimented with the ticks until I got the right output for each of the 3 bits, then moved across each bit and finally saved when it was right. Some of my Bytes that weren't in the instructions to change were different to Motmot's, but the effect was the same with travel assist.

I'm fairly sure if you turn off 'speed limit preview' in the ACC menu it disables the entire 'set ACC to the speed limit' functionality. It will still detect speed limits through either signs or GPS and provide you a warning when you exceed the limit if you ask it to (by 1, 3 or 5 mph selectable) but it won't then slow down for you.

Thanks for your reply, I’m struggling as my string is counting left bit 7 8 and nine
Sorry did this years ago on my Audi but just want to get it right

The first "00" isn't counted as a bit for the purposes of instructions, so the 7th pairing of digits is actually bit 6 On your list, 7/8/9 are actually 6, 7, 8, and should be changed from "EO, 07, 24", to "10, E4, 16" through a combination of tick boxes in each bit listing. I think I struggled to get E4 initially, if you tick too many boxes in bit 7, you end up in the Fs rather than the Es.

I'll go out and make a note of byte boxes checked for Bits 6, 7, 8 to be at status 10, E4, 16 on mine...

First bit is number zero IIRC? Trial end error to get the right number/letters up. I’d take a screenshot but in child’s party mode 😱

OK, my bits 6, 7, 8 are actually "10", "F4", "16". I set bit 7 to "E4" for Travel assist, but it resurrected Lane assist setting to on at every ignition cycle, so I put in Lane assist memory and E4 became F4.

So, if you want Travel assist, and Lane assist setting to have memory:-

Bit 6, tick byte 4 only - Bit displays as 10
Bit 7, tick bytes 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 - Bit displays as F4
Bit 8, tick bytes 1, 2, 4 - Bit displays as 16.

As per your first Bit displaying as Bit 00, the Bytes also go from 0-7, so 1st tick box is actually Bit 00, 2nd is Bit 01 etc.

OK, if that works verbatim, it'll be a good indicator that modules and coding if yhose modules is identical between Born and ID3.

Ok so did coding today on the Born and can confirm it works.

Did a short run so didn’t get to use it for long but on a two mile stretch of slightly twisty bypass it kept the car in the middle of the lane.

Only problem I found is it didn’t take long before it was beeping and telling me to put my hands back on the wheel, then it started to slow the car and activate the hazards, wasn’t until I got home I checked the menu and found option in LA to turn this off.

So as said it’s not perfect but very cool and now don’t have a blank button, wondering now if the the time delay can be lengthened?

On the same subject of OBDeleven does anyone know the coding for memory high beam assist?

Thanks to all who have helped make this work too 👍
