Dash cam and tracker

I was seeking to have a dash cam and tracker installed by the dealership but was advised they have not had the detailed guidance to install such devices. Has anyone had similar problems?

I was also looking into having a front and rear dash cam (Thinkware Q800 or U1000) fitted but not by the VW dealership but by a specialist company, however I'm still in two minds at the moment as there have been a number of reports of the 12v battery dying so I didn't want to add any extra load.

Do people think it’s a possibility that there’ll be a future sw upgrade that would allow footage to be captured from the existing front and rear cameras along the same lines as Tesla do already...

I would love that, even if available as an extra that you have to pay a fee to enable - there should be a “store” of possible upgrades coming when we get the production software, so the potential is there for them to add this (if you have a storage device plugged into the car)

I have been toying at fitting my BlackVue 750 front and rear cams however I am also a little concerned over the 12V Drain.

I am in the car every day so hopefully will be okay.

Anyone have any recommendations for dash cam? Always used BV however their interface is grim!

Have been enquiring of VW about fitting Dash Cam and Tracker but VW do noy appear to want to support any additional electronics! It seems shortsighted in this day and age that owners cannot use additional security on the vehicle. Needs to be prioritised.
