I saw some pictures recently from an old ID3 brochure of interior seat options and noticed there was a design where the headrest was integrated to the seat, and they were all black too. I think they were ‘sport’ seats? I want to see if I can add these to my Tour spec even at this (hopefully) late stage. Does anyone know:

a) What their name is / what I should be asking for?
b) Whether they’re memory-enabled?
c) Whether the massage function is retained?
d) How much they cost?

If anyone has them on a delivered car, I’d appreciate your findings on if they’re worth having etc too.

I’ve not seen an option for sports seats on any config I’d tried in the past, prior to the removal of all but the life option but I could be wrong.

Your biggest struggle though might be amending the spec of your car from Plan leasing, I don’t think they are amendable as sure I would have been offered the option of changing the colour when I first got in touch about their offer.

The Max and the Tour did have an option for "Soul Black - Sports Seats" when I was ordering and I can tell you in Ireland, they cost either €1315 for the Max or €1550 for the Max.

I've no idea if they had the massage function or memory enabled.

Additionally I was told up until you had a build date confirmed that you could make changes to your order in terms of option but check with your dealer as soon as you can just in case.

That’s quite a lot of money tbh…. Was hoping more for £500 or so. How can they be so much more - I mean they save on the standard seats they don’t have to supply etc.. so they can’t surely cost them that much more to make! It’s a bit like upgrading to the next size up alloys - it always seems way too expensive. Thanks anyway.

If you want an ID3 with sports seats in the UK,you need to get a Cupra Born.

Definitely not. They hold you in a little better if you fling the car around a corner, but no more or less comfy than the ID3's standard seats (both of which are very comfy on long journeys).

As someone who's susceptible to the occasional back ache, they are incredibly comfortable, but I do find the ID3 seats comfortable too. When I swapped out our ID3s for Borns, I had the opportunity to give them quite the tryout - drove Newcastle to Hounslow in London to drop off the ID3 to a dealership, then picked up the Born in Twickenham and drove it home. 5 hours sat in each car over the space of a day, no aches or pains at all.

I repeated the feat the following week, swapping our second ID3 out for another Born down to Essex to drop the ID3 off and picking up the new one from Woking. No complaints from either car for seat comfort.

I'm super paranoid about seats in cars, my last Golf was really uncomfortable to sit in for more than an hour and half. Created a real pain in my lower back until I added some aftermarket support! I'm actually delighted to hear those seats are good for a sensitive back.

There is an outside chance that my other half may want to get an ID4 at some point in the next couple of years and I'd get those seats if we do.

I'd be interested in driving an ID3 with the sports seats, I am not unconvinced that the perceived handling improvments in the Born aren't in some way attributable to the sports seats.

Even with 2 borns and a vested interest in supporting the myth, I really don't think the Born's suspension is set up any better than the ID3's. I think k a lot of people making the change are looking for a reason to justify the decision beyond looks. My V2 230ps E-Boost on 19" wheels shod with Conti 6 tyres does handle noticeably (but not hugely) better than my ID3 on 18" Bridgestone Turanzas, but I believe it's all in the wheelsize and tyre choice. I test drove a V1 Born on 18" Turanzas and the ride/handling was the same as, or marginally worse than my ID3. Bridgestones being truly dire top tier tyres will be a factor, as will having less sidewall on the 19" wheels.

As such, I expect an ID3 on 19" wheels and Conti tyres to drive a bit tidier too.
