Car lock

Unable to lock the car. The boot won’t open and the car doesn’t lock the doors when driving
Are there any fixes that I can try myself before calling the emergency services.

I assume you meant VW Roadside Assistance? They'll send out someone from the AA.
Have you tried both keys? Have you re-sync'd the keys by putting them in the front-centre cup holder for 15 minutes?
If you can get to a VW dealer/workshop that might be easier.

Had the exact same issue a couple of days ago. I put the key in the front-centre cup holder just like scott28tt mentioned above but the crucial part here is not time but to hit the break to start "ignition". I put the key on the icon in the cup holder and as soon as I hit the break with the key there, the red little light on the key flashed and it worked again.
