I've just got my ID.3 and I am considering what to use to keep the boot clean. I've heard mention about this false floor type mat. Has anyone got one, and what are they like? Are they any use to keep the charging cable safe? It's a real shame there is no compartment to put the cable in.
If the false floor is not worthwhile, then what is the next best thing? I've seen a couple of suggestions so far.

We have that false floor thing and it’s great for putting the cable in its bag under it, plus empty shopping bags and the usual junk that flaps around in the boot along with the granny charger.

When we had a loaner it didn’t have the false floor and it felt untidy but cavernous space.

If you get an official boot liner, make sure you get the semi rigid one, not the flexible one, which looks more like packaging and that it would last 5 mins vs the rubbery semi rigid one.

I'm still trying to work out which one it is amongst the ID.3 accessories! It's really annoying that they don't have pictures! https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners-and ... ccessories

I found a big piece of waxed card at work to keep the carpet clean and to keep my bits and bobs safe I’ve got a plastic storage box bungeed to the hooks all nice and tidy and still loads of space at a cost of about a fiver

There's 4 variants, 2 each of Flexible and semi rigid variants, 1 is for those cars without a variable boot floor (Life, Pure, maybe style?) and one is for the others with the raised floor. Avoid the flexible one, it looks and feels like high end packaging material rather than rubberised - looks like it won't last 5 mins.

I gave the part number of one of the flexi ones to avoid earlier in the thread.

There was an earlier topic on this theme and the member got an almost identical one from an outside supplier at almost half the price, I have had the roll up one for 7 months now with no problems, but I wouldn't recommend taking rubble to the tip with it

I have a Seat Leon boot mat and it fits perfectly in the ID3. If you ever see one of those cheap!

I got lucky, my previous car was a Seat Ateca and I kept the moulded boot liner.
When I tried it in the ID.3 it fitted almost like it was made for the car, no gaps front and sides and a small half inch gap at the back, even fitted the curves.
Just goes to show how similar these boots can be.

Hi

I am considering if it's worth buying the variable boot liner for my ID3 . To hide the charging cable etc.
I'm just wondering if any one has one, and your thoughts. I can't see from photos how it raises the height ?

I have a max and the variable height device was included. It’s great to put the cables underneath in fact you could put a lot of other stuff under it. It has a split so can be accessed underneath with out taking it out. Needed more space last week and just slid it out to accommodate larger cases. Don’t no the cost but in my opinion it’s a good addition as in day to day use the loss of boot space is minimal

If anybody else is still looking for a boot liner, I’ve managed to find 2 on the net that are tailor made

The first is from Boot Buddy for just under £100
http://www.boot-buddy.com/volkswagen/id ... versaliner

The second is from a German company
https://www.kleinmetall.de/en/starliner ... 9-sl14910g
more expensive, but uses softer materials

I don’t think it does “raise the height”. It’s just that when you have a variable floor, the shape of the boot generally changes when you set the floor to “low” or “high” so you need a differently shaped boot liner for “low” and “high”. These are the two liner options - “normal” and “variable”, which correspond to “low” and “high” positions if you have a variable floor fitted.

At least, this is how it was for the Tiguan. If you want a boot liner for both of the variable floor positions, you buy “normal” and “variable” boot liner flavours.
