What would be the efficient method for charging the battery. I am thinking of allowing the battery to run down to 30% then recharging to 80% at home. I won’t be doing any long journeys until later in the year

That is more or less what Im doing. I tend to drop to about 35%-40%. If I'm going to do a couple 50 mile round trips in a week on top of running about I charge to 90%.
Im sure when I looked into this when I got the car this was close to recommendations. Im sure someone here will be able to quote official figures but 30 to 80 sounds a good regime to me.

Once a month or so it is advisable to charge it to 100% to condition the Battery Management System. But do this just before a trip that will take the charge down to under 80% so that it doesn’t sit for long at the higher charge.
