ksoni94 wrote: Fri Nov 19, 2021 1:43 pm Its quite strange that they give out build weeks for weeks the factory would be closed. Unless I'm misunderstanding what build weeks truly mean or unless these closures aren't scheduled until closer to the time but nevertheless, strange 🤷

Build weeks used to mean that all the parts are ready and build is intended to commence within that week.

Now they’re just week numbers indicating the first available opportunity that build might start, maybe.
Even then surely you'd want to exclude weeks where the factory is due to be shut 🤔 logistically you'd end up with a backlog of cars that were due to be build after you re-open which sounds like a nightmare! Although maybe before the chip shortage the factories were efficient enough to overcome the backlog quite quickly so it didn't really matter but still !

I don’t disagree at all, but I’m basically considering any “build week” given by VW as pure fabrication and fantasy now. You only have to look at the delivery spreddy to see that not much has arrived in the UK in November so far, and given Covid ripping through Germany on top of the component shortages I don’t think much else will.

(Cue VW shipping everyone’s cars next week …. 😂)

Yeah absolutely, also think they're just fantasy now and as someone mentioned, probably not tied to calendar weeks anymore! Hopefully the reverse jinx works 😉🤞🏼

Mine is currently in the paintshop which means the build has only just begun. My build week was 39 and we are now in 46. Currently build weeks mean diddly squat.

To be honest, I think this forum has more accurate information on delivery dates than the dealers at the moment! ....

Following the shipping app of car carriers leaving emden, there has been at least 6 deliveries to various ports in the UK over the last fortnight and one on the way now.

Ouch. Maybe I’m going to get a MY22.5 after all at this rate!

For the most part, I'd expect only people who know theirs is built will be getting excited.

I've had emails about different stages, but not one to say it's built or left the factory, so all hope of a sudden call from the deal is very distant

Do not forget the Emden is the port for all of the Volkswagen Group there is also a VW factory there building the Passat. So that's Audi's, Skoda's, Seat as well as VW.

I get what your saying, however some of these vessels carry up to 8 thousand cars.

Reading all the comments on this site and elsewhere about delivery, it almost seems that the less information being officially transmitted the more information that provides relevant to an order number and status, i.e. no one really knows. What I would say is that all those with order numbers and at least getting updates of a sort, however infuriating or disappointing, at least you have the comfort your order is in the VW system. It appears we cannot even get our dealership (Herritage Gloucester) to place the order on VW. Making our estimated delivery date of end June 22 looking more and more iffy as the days progress. Who knows.

I'm reading the delivery times posts with interest.

Just ordered a ID3 Pro Performance Family in Moonstone Grey through my work and the estimated delivery time I've been given yesterday is 20 weeks by the leasing company. They have said the VW dealer will contact me next week to give me more information. In the meantime my wife test drove the same model this morning at our local VW dealer (as pre-arranged) and salesman said delivery time will be 7 to 9 months....but to plan for 9 months! Great! So that could be July/August next year. Not sure I would have placed the order if I'd known that and gone for a Kia E-Nero instead. Time will tell but the posts here fill me with pessimism really.

Ordered an ID3 Max in mid August, initial build estimate of mid November. Received a call in late October advising the build date has moved to mid December, now it’s mid January.

Shame VW communication and transparency is so poor, ordering one through a dealership was difficult enough in Norfolk!

I suppose the good news is you will have an MY 22.5 car. I also ordered my Tour in mid August and was told at the time mid Jan delivery but, that has slipped to late Feb (so far). I am also hopeful of getting an MY 22.5 upgraded interior. My leasing firm is being quite economical with information so I don't have a build date but I will put some pressure on them next week and see if they can tell me anything more!

Utumno, why don't you ask you dealer for a screenshot of your order?
