I admit that I can't get my head round the whole mode thing as there seem to be two different concepts, but what I find oddest is that although I've set Eco for AC etc. and that seems to stick, the actual performance of the car always defaults to Comfort which leads to aggressive acceleration and braking when in ACC, which I do not like. Have I missed something?

I'm confused, have you created an individual setting? It should stick whatever you have put in, although mime did default back to comfort across the board once and I'm not sure whym

Mine went back to all comfort following its recent update to 2.1 software.

Comfort is default, when reset is done.
Also, if you use eco, and press the 'play' to floor, it changes to comfort for better acceleration.

Maybe it was the upgrade what done it. Will report back though before 2.1 it kept reverting to Comfort too. Perhaps it was accelerating hard into moving traffic that caused it.

SW upgrade set most of the settings to default.
Actually I wondered, it didn't changed them all.
When I restored to factory settings (VW supposed), everything was defaulted. ;)
