OMG! MPH

Hi everyone,
I’ve had my car since Tuesday and had done 177 miles mostly my commute to work.
So today was the first big charge day (small top up at Tesco Thursday) so after a good charge at Amesbury service area it was time to get on the 303. Followed a Tesla that slowed to have a good look at my car as I was waiting to get out of service area.
The 303 was quite busy so kept to the limit then when getting to a point where I was easing past a truck an Audi A6 was flying along so I had a choice A ease of and think eco or B see what this baby can do.
I went for B and OMG amazing acceleration and it just kept going as the A6 got smaller in my wing mirror I won’t say what speed it got to but we all know what the stated top speed is and I’m sure it would have gone faster! And it felt rock solid no dramas
Slowed down after I’d done the overtake of the few cars ahead and took it easy down the long hill (if you know the road) the A6 went past and I was off at a more sedate speed on the 36 to Warminster.
Oh and btw I’m not a boy racer more slow and steady but I have had some fast cars in the past
For the people out there who like to monitor m/kWh home with 3.5 and overall 3.9

I absolutely LOVE the acceleration on this thing!

And this was in a life pro, not a pro performance? I’ve just ordered a life pro and am hoping the less powerful motor isn’t a disappointment.

Jam, it will not be a disappointment, believe you me. Love these cars harassing me as I maximise battery so I can burn off 7km of range in 1km of hill. Muahaha. Or rather a friend of mine does…

I can confirm that this car definitely could go faster, I have reached the limit and it got there very easily.

Getting there easily isn't necessarily.a sign that it could do more - not expecting it to run out of puff like an ICE car at its top end, rather a clear cut off of additional current, as much related to the wiring supplying the motor as anything else. Electrical current passing through the drivetrain wiring at 99mph will be very high. That wiring will be of a large enough cross section to handle the current demands of a 99mph.limit, with a little margin. Even if the motor could handle 120mph, doing so would be like wiring in an electric oven with 40A demand, using wiring meant to handle 13A.

For me it’s not how fast it can go, more how quickly the car goes from mid range speeds (45-55) to 70 plus. And it does the same all through the speed range, such a good feeling.
And the car so steady at those higher speeds.

It isn´t - I have one. It´s only limited by software. I bet it´s equal to the 204HP from 0-60 km/h, then you can feel it´s holding back.

Thanks, that’s encouraging. And you find it OK for motorway driving?

I think the move to EV's is creating a new trend of 'Silver-Top boy racers'. Until I got my ID3 I certainly haven't had as a much fun since my first drive in a Dolomite Sprint in 1978! (RWD, amazing acceleration, unremarkable Vmax)
But of course the ID3 isn't about to blow a head gasket and bring the fun to an untimely end!

I've just spent a few days in the last couple of weeks doing 130 miles a day on thr M40, it's fine, no different to my old tiguan. Going at 80 though eats range.

It is excellent on the motorway, good “torque” when you need it, smooth as silk when you don’t. We have 7000km on it now, much on the motorway and it’s excellent.

I know what you mean when I was 20 I had a 2litre Ford Capri n reg. it was very fast for the time and rear wheel drive I definitely learnt how to handle a car properly and if anybody wants a great driving experience seek one out!
Now I older I’m loving relaxing in my ID3, just can’t help smiling when behind the wheel
