Volkswagen CEO Ralf Brandstätter has taken to his personal Linkedin account to preview a surprise new concept car: the ID X.
He says:
The team has equipped an ID.3 with an original 62kWh with an 82kWh battery and recombined it with parts of the ID.4 GTX.
Powertrain, chassis and infotainment modified and gave the vehicle an extraordinary appearance inside and outside. . The result of this experiment is a powerhouse with all-wheel drive, 245 kW power and sporty design. Project name: ID.X.
I was just able to test this prototype – and I'm thrilled. From 0 to 100 in 5.3 seconds, 200 kilos lighter than its ID siblings, interior and exterior an absolute design highlight – and in drift mode not to toast fun. I have often talked about how versatile our MEB is. The ID.X makes this very clear.

200kg lighter? Do they mean 200kg lighter than an ID4 GTX rather than 200kg lighter than an ID3?
I presume so.
Like the seats, don't like the "Lumi yellow" highlighter accents.
If it had an RRP under £40k, and a bit of accessible discount, I could be tempted.
