Front assist unavailable

Hi!

I have had some issues with front camera (front assist, lane assist) in sunny weather (24 c).

Several times, front assist etc is unavailable when i start the car. To solve it, i have to turn off the car for 20 minutes or so.

Have someone experienced the same? This will be fun in the upcoming summer months. I guess the camera gets overheated..

Regards,
Mr kaffe

Mine was replaced as part of the 2.1 update. Not sure if similar or not.

Several times during the recent cold spell, about a minute after setting off, the "Front Assist Unavailable" warning would come on (complete with alarm sound etc). The front camera was clear (I'd cleared all windows, along with the headlight glasses). It seems the problem was probably frost over the radar sensor (mounted between the front VW badge and the front number plate: <https://evflux.pro/id3-sensors/>). It went off after two to five minutes, and must have been caused by frost, but I wasn't aware of any particular accumulation in that area. Any suggestions for why the alarm didn't go off as soon as I pressed the brake pedal to turn the motor on?

I have had the same message pop up at car wash when they were using the lance on the lower front of the car, so yeah it will be the radar sensor you mention.

I had a misting problem with my BMW i3 camera caused by condensation it was never was cured. My id3 seems to have the same fault. This morning after the first frost I got the "front assist not working, clean the screen" the screen was clean but mist over camera was visible. It cleared as the car warmed up, worrying at first and then a nuisance. Another case of poor design or is there a cure out there
