Speed limiter and iphones

Hi. Taken delivery of my family id.3 today. Got a couple of questions please. 1 - I’ve tried setting the speed limit (hit the cruise control button, swiped left, choose speed limiter) and set it to 30mph. Drove off and car let me go above 30 mph. Am I missing something? 2 - I’ve linked the phone but through Apple car play. Does that mean I can’t link it via the standard vw media system too? Ie is it one or the other please?

It seems to be access the phone (for calls etc) either via CarPlay or exit car play and connect to the car via Bluetooth. The two don’t seeen ti work at the same time. But I’m quite possibly wrong!
