Thanks, Yes, a long way to go for sure and we can but try. If it falls flat then so be it, least we tried.

There's no way this will come off. VAT for home electricity is at 5% because its intended to be used in the house. At the moment, home charging is allowing household electricity to be used to power a car, with no implemented split of household and EV electricity metering. Charging at a paid for charging point external to your home it's patently obvious that the electricity being taken isn't being used to power your telly, washing machine or fridge.

Would be nice to gave, but no way it'll happen as the government have been actively paring back the incentives to get people into EVs over the last year with cuts to grants.

Audi S3 - because I hate rapid charging for long distance driving.

My thoughts also. In fact I can see this highlighting 'lost revenue' and the govt sticking 20% VAT on the cheap rate periods before I could see them dropping it anywhere else.

Precisely. Hence not signing; I don't disagree with the equality principle, but the route of cutting VAT at public charging points isn't the right one in my humble.

Reference to this in an email from Osprey about increasing their prices:

Finally, we join other charging networks in supporting the reduction of the VAT rate for public charging from 20%, to match the home tariff VAT of 5%. This could be passed on to customers to help even out the inequality between home and public charging prices.

Business wants to pay less tax shocker ;)

(I'm not surprised they are increasing prices. Although strangely I used an Instavolt that only charged me 45p today, so obviously these price increases aren't totally straightforward to implement.)

Lol “could be”. VAT will stay at 20% on public charging.
