Route planning for longer trips

Does anyone have any good tips for planning longer journeys that will require a charging stop en route.

We’ll be driving from London to The Scottish Borders in a few weeks and would ideally like to time a charge with a picnic stop.

I’ve been using zap map up till now but wondered if anyone had a better way of planning a trip?

ABRP does look good. Is it worth paying the annual subscription to unlock the additional features?
Are there any advantages over the native navigation system post 2.1 update?

I have been trying out the premium subscription with Carplay and have it also integrated with Tronity so it can take the SoC from the car in realtime. My feeling is that as a route planner its good, but as a navigation system less good. It maybe the settings I had but it would tell me to expect a turn in say 2000 feet, which means little to me, it would also give turn directions just showing one of the locations on the roadsign (making it challenging to try and read all of a sign as you go round a roundabout , or come to a fork to match the name) , and not like waze where it would also give the road number (e.g. A5 and turn number), so when I was in an area I was not familiar with looking for a charger location I missed it initially following ABRP, luckily I also had the location saved in waze, so quickly dialed that up.

I just tried it in the car. Was annoyed you have to get the subscription service to allow CarPlay integration.
