1986 Transit (not a pikey - honest) (work)

1992 Astra van (Fastest van on earth - still not a pikey) (work)

Heavily modified 1992 Vitara for off roading competitions. Sold and then rolled, hydra locked and then scrapped.

Auto convertible Suzuki Vitara daily - paid £200 for and sold number plate for more than all the above

2003 Citroen Berlingo van - horrible but took to the ring twice! (15 laps) (Work)

2002 BMW E46 325i - Many UK track days, over 100k clocked up in 3 years and 80 ring laps - RIP sold and was crashed on track 1 week later - amazing car

1997 Honda VFR 750FV - still own - still love and appreciating 👍 14k genuine miles and lovely pearlescent red

1978 Mini Clubman Estate. I converted this into a FWD R1 powered machine. It scared me. 600kg and 200HP - road legal - wrong. 6 speed sequential box with no reverse. This is when I discovered adrenaline isn’t a clear odourless substance - it is brown and sticky!

2008 MK5 Blue motion Golf. 40 Nurburg laps and many many miles. Camshaft lobe failed and new one fitted - sold to my step sister and she trashed it within a year :-(

2015 Mercedes GLA AMG - lovely car to look at - shocking to drive - went bang at 3 years with 90k on the clock 🤬 Mercedes fixed under warranty 🤗 traded in for Tiguan

2018 Fiat 500 - don’t ask - it was replaced with a Polo within 2 months. The worst car I have ever owned with so many problems.

2018 Polo SE - Still own - amazing car and so much fun to drive - fits loads in and really economical

2018 Tiguan R Line 2.0 petrol - - incredible car - WITH APPLE CAR PLAY (##cough VW@@!!) - miss it dearly however traded in to go EV

2020 - ID3 1st - incredible - more error lights than a Christmas tree but I don’t care. It is phenomenal and I haven’t looked back (maybe for the car play - well every day)

2021/22 polo will be going in to be swapped with a hopefully longer range ID4.

My first vehicle was a red 1965 Beetle. Since then I've owned...

Another beetle
Split screen camper
Mk 2 Polo
Mk1 Golf
Mk 2 Golf
4 x Passats
Now an ID.3

... in addition to various other brands of vehicle which I drove as company cars.

My first three Passats were brilliant, my last, 2005 reg, was disastrous.

From oldest to the most recent (and excluding company cars)

Ford Fiesta 1.1 Popular Plus
Well we all have to start somewhere - bought this towards the end of Uni and kept it til the rust began to take over...

Audi TT 1.8T Coupe (225 BHP version)
Love at first sight - took me a few years from seeing the concept car to getting mine when it was 3 years old
I'll never forget the test drive, my other half wouldn't let me get a 180 BHP version cos of how the 225 made me grin!
Had to sell it when kids came along...

VW Passat 1.9 TDI
Family work horse - the first brand new car I bought (the ID.3 is the second)
I had it for nearly 10 years, it was brilliantly boring - hardly cost me a penny in 100,000 miles

Seat Leon Cupra 2.0T
My official mid-life crisis mobile!
A proper bone-shaker, hated speed bumps
Cost me a bloody fortune in repairs and depreciation!

Mercedes C350 CDi
Just under 5 years old when I bought it, kept it for 5 years myself
Lovely to drive and cost me very little to run - sad to see it go but I just had to get an ID.3...!

@scott28tt Like you my first Passat was my first brand new car. I had it a year and then lost my job, and wasn't sure if I'd be able to keep up the payments on it, so disposed of it. I regret that decision, actually I would have been able to keep up the payments. My second Passat was petrol and saloon which wasn't what I wanted, my third Passat was the one I kept ten years and like yours it was brilliant. Sold it with 225,000 miles on the clock.
My second brand new car is my ID.3....

I thought I had a significant VAG prominence too until I started putting this together!
As my first new car, the ID3 brings our fleet back up to four; joining:-
• Polo SDi 140k miles; bequeathed by my father in law who bought it new in 2004.
• Honda Insight Gen1 (2001) 170k miles; The first volume production car with a CD of 0.27 and a key step in the commercialisation of many of the
. technologies we now take for granted on EV’s
• Fiat Ducato Campervan (2010); a COVID inspired impulse buy, which kept us sane last year!.

Prior to that we have had a very mixed bag over 45 years – too numerous to list by model:-
• 7 Austins
• 5 Morris’s
• 4 VWs (3 Golfs and a Passat)
• 3 each of: Audi (2 80’s and a 90), Peugeot, Wolseley,
• 2 Simcas
• 1 each of:- Ford, Vauxhall, Daewoo, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Bedford, Citroen, Opel, Triumph, Rover
• And a half share in a Bond mini car!
So quite a few brands still to try, high on the list are: - Volvo, Saab, Alfa, Riley, BMW, Skoda and Seat

But the ID3 is here for the long term…… well at least until a long-range ID2 arrives!!
Life Pro performance, Makena, 19" Andoya, Heat-pump, Nov'20 build, 23/12/20 delivery. Now with 2.1

2015 - VW Up! (new)
2017 - Bicycle
2018 - Another Bicycle
2018 - BMW i3 (second hand)
2020 - VW ID.3 (new)

The biggest challenge we had is whether to get another car at all - though the i3 sold us on the fun-to-drive element so we persevered!

Not sure of the dates of ownership but the current and historical list is

Vauxhall Viva (Firenza style coupe version)
Opel Monza
Pontiac Trans Am (bought it, realised I couldn’t afford the insurance, sold it back to the guy as he regretted selling it a week later)
Mk3 Escort XR3 (normally aspirated version. Awful car)
Mk1 Ford Fiesta
Mk2 Vauxhall Astra (cheap runaround as I’d got into bikes)
Mk4 Fiesta (First new car also first married shared car)
Mk1 MX5 (additional to Fiesta)
Mk4 VW Golf (New. Back to one car, wife not happy about selling the MX)
Mazda RX-8 (new. Loved that car. Oil consumption not as bad as reported. Fuel consumption horrendous)
Mk1 Ford KA (yeah one car just not enough, especially when it’s an RX-8)
Mk2 Mazda 6 (new. Replaced RX after never happy with it after accident repair)
Mk3 Mazda MX-5 (new. KA proved entropy. Wife happy again. Will keep as long as repairable, the car that is)
Mk3 Audi A4 S-Line (replace Mazda 6. In terms of expectation vs reality, the worst car I’ve owned)
Mk2 Landrover Freelander (new. Loved this as well and kinda wish I still had it, although that’s rose coloured history glasses for ya)
Mk2 VW Tiguan SEL (new. Replaced Freelander. Making way for ID-3)
VW T5.1 (van converted into camper and currently no plans to sell it)

ID-3 on order.
