If I’m invited to choose a number plate I might go for something beginning IM71 as I probably will be by the time I take delivery 😂

I held out a small hope that mine might be ready by the weekend, but as far as I know it's not even at the dealers yet.

Also had no sight of any of the documents to complete, so I'm expecting another week or so at the earliest.

Half expecting I'll get it and then we'll go into a lockdown and I'll not get to use it for months!

Went to the dealer today to get a better trade in price as second hand cars have gone up in value since I ordered. They still offered me way less than Cazoo or WeBuyAnyCar! So guess where my current car’s going
While I was there I spotted my ID3, already plated and parked up waiting to be prepped before I collect it on Saturday 🙂

I didn't know you could revise the offer on your car - I assumed that whatever the offer was the first time, they'd stick to their guns! So that's good to know as I think our secondhand has gone up too.

Also, this was a poor job on hiding the number plate, just FYI...

I'd also have thought it'd gone through PDI if it has plates, as the dealer puts them on (and the last thing they'd do is get a salesman to make/fit them!*)

*or, in reality, the last thing a salesman would offer to do!

I spotted it and thought it was probably mine , then asked the dealer if he had a Reg. for me to sort out my insurance and he gave me the same Reg. as on the car but said although it’s been allocated it hasn’t officially been registered yet 🤔🤔I’ll know when I get the V5 thingy .

Ah ok. I assume it's been PDI'd, but the paperwork hasn't gone through to made it 'road legal' yet.

You're not obliged to give your car in p/x to get the price quoted for the new one. Get your car valued by motorway.co.uk before you hand that p/x over and sell to them if there's a difference. P/X values usually aren't much better than WBAC in most cases, and are often worse. They'll be expecting to make a minimum 20% on your current car when they sell it.

Audi S3 - because I hate rapid charging for long distance driving.

Good shout, I'll do exactly that.

No idea if secondhand prices are going to continue to rise (I'm not expecting my ID.3 till April at the very earliest, possibly later). Will use motorway.co.uk prior to trading in anyway for a guide. Appreciate it.

I doubt they would expect 20% if you sold them a new ID.3 (as a pre-registered car).
What would they give for a ID.3 Family Pro with delivery miles, I wonder!

What they'll give you will depend on what they're confident it'll sell for. They'll offer you as much as 80% of what they expect to sell it for.

If they expect to sell it for RRP, best case is they'll buy it for 80% of that. If you got yours for £6k under list, they're going to offer you little to nothing more than you paid for it. A few people might score £1-2k, but then what else to buy? Every other car has gone up in price too, wiping out that profit when you buy something else to replace the car you were going to keep.

The used car lot of a dealership is not a charitable organisation supported by the sale of new cars, they expect 20%+ return on every car they buy or acquire through the part-ex system.

Prices are going up and assistance to buy (grants) are dropping. The government are expecting that as volumes increase, prices will drop. That's not really happening right now.

I personally think there's a threshold for willing EV early adopters.- those with the means/facilities to charge at home and are willing to pay £25k+ for a car. That's probably only 10-15% of the population. As more used stick drips through over the next few years, significantly cheaper than new prices, you'll see more people with off street parking buying in. I still think there'll be a surge in ICE sales in 2028/2029 for those that can't charge at home and see EV ownership without a home charger as a total PITA.

The car will be registered the day of delivery (or Friday if your pick up is at the weekend) on the AFRL system. The v5 can take upto 4 weeks to come through but is normally within 2 weeks. The paperwork to make it road legal is a few presses of buttons on the AFRL computer screen by the admin team

I placed my order for ID.3 S Pro 5 seats on 2021-11-15 (week 46). I was told it was preliminary planned for production week 11, 2022. Three weeks ago I got information that production
was confirmed for week 50, 2021 (this week). I don't know what to expect, this seems unreasonably fast after looking at Utumno's tracker.

I'm from Sweden, I don't know if that makes any difference on delivery time.

Edit: wrong year

Hi Zhivago - welcome to the forum. Can you check the build week, you said Week 50, 2022 which is December next year. At the moment the factory is on shut-down so Week 50 is not likely.
Sounds like its either going to be very fast or very slow delivery !

Isn't week 50 of 2022 a year off?

Thank you!

My contact at the dealer is out of office until early next week, so I'll speak with him then.

I hear news about the factory shut down. Which just makes me more confused about the date I got.

I hope to get more information when I speak with him next week..
