1. The payments aren’t refunds, they are a gesture of goodwill
2. They are only for customers who “bought” before the November discounts were available
3. They aren’t automatic, the customer has to raise a complaint to VW UK
4. The amount depends on how you “bought” the car, I think it was £500 for cash or lease and £1000 for PCP
5. VW UK pay the dealer, the dealer pays the customer

If you haven’t raised a case with VW UK, and the above applies to you, go ahead.

I bought my 1st Edition in October and raised numerous issues with VW UK. It wasn't a formal complaint but I did list about a dozen faults, stated that I felt it was beta software, said that my nearest Ionity charger is 128 miles away so I probably won't be using the £500 of 'free' charging, and said that I felt aggrieved because the UK version of the 1st Edition was full of bugs and not the 'special' vehicle that I was led to believe.

What I got was a very pleasant and concerned customer liaison person who phones me regularly and ensured that my local dealer upgraded the software in January. She continues to manage my case until all of the issues are resolved, probably when 2.1 is released.

Oh, and I received a hamper as an apology!

The only one anywhere close to me is on a stretch of the M25 I might use once every 4-5 years, but I'm using a local Osprey point and have already burned through more the £100 of my credit - where are you located?

Is that Meera by any chance? She was managing my case, and has generally been very helpful.

Hi, I'm very new here and bought my White ID3 First Edition in October. Like hwhbev my nearest Ionity charger is over 64 miles away (on the M5 at Cullumpton, Devon). I live in West Devon and there is no Ionity charger west of Exeter including Cornwall, so the 'free' We Charge card is of no use to me, despite the dealer advising at the time there were numerous chargers around.
Do you think I have a case for a refund from VW, and if so any ideas as to who I might contact?

Honestly, no I don't.

Have you looked at other We Charge partners? This is the list I got from Elli who run We Charge:

IONITY
Engie (was Chargepoint)
New Motion
Osprey (was Engenie)
Elmtronics Ltd
ESB Group
Alfa Power

If you go to the map in the We Connect ID app you can set We Charge as a filter, or use something like Zap-Map or their own websites.

Yes, as Scott noted it was a gesture of goodwill related to the discounts introduced on November 6.

I have only managed to use 40kwh of my allowance on the We Charge card so far since September.

Many thanks for the list. I've created a Zap-Map filter containing just these networks. The tiny green dots in the We Connect ID app are just too indistinct and makes its map unusable. Now my nearest charge point (Osprey) is only 41 miles away in Worcester! I still can't see me using more than a few pounds worth, if any.

North-west Herefordshire. Worcester is my nearest Osprey, 41 miles away.

I agree on the app being poor. I did find the VW routeplanner website at https://www.volkswagen.de/de/elektrofah ... laner.html . I view that in Chrome with German translation enabled. Hopefully they might bring some of this route planning to the car at some point.

I contacted VW about a refund. They replied they don’t do goodwill gestures from head office. Any refund would have to come from my Dealership. So I contacted the Dealer who politely said “no refund”.
So no hamper or goodies for me then. 🤬

What were you asking them for, and on what grounds?

The fact I paid full list price for the car and it’s now discounted by £3250 at my local dealership.

When did you place the order for it?

Yes, and yes.

I bought my 1st from UK stock, placed the order and collected the car in early October.
