Spate of electric car charger thefts rattles Hungerford residents “The chargers are an easy target for thieves as they are often used outside of motorists’ properties. The cables are being sold on the second-hand market for up to £200 while the copper parts are being scrapped for £20. [...] The cables are sometimes stolen from the vehicle’s boot but can also be removed at a charging point if the car is left unattended. [...] Some have been stolen from garages and some from unoccupied premises [...] up to 15 chargers have been taken from Lancaster Park alone. [...] Many chargers were likely to be sold on second-hand websites such as eBay and Facebook Marketplace.”
And now I’m wondering what to do about my Hypervolt with 7.5m of juicy cable rolled around it, on my driveway in plain sight and unobstructed access from the street. Would it really help to fit a camera by the driveway, or would the cost of the camera just add to the potential loss, given reports that the police won’t care to look at the footage anyway?

I would make the cable less desirable too, try wrapping some electrical tape around random bits of the cable. It would then make the cable appear in a poor condition and I would think less likely to be targeted for someone trying to sell it on
Unlikely to make a difference, as they can sell them for the copper.
