I’m hoping to pick up my new car in the ext couple of weeks and wondering if I should carry out a factory reset before handing over old car to the dealer. If anyone has experience of a factory reset could you please let me know what it actually consists of?

Definitely. The fact that you are asking suggests you are unaware of the huge amount of data about you which is otherwise handed over to the next owner!
