Thats interesting. I've registered and they are going to generate a certificate which I need to install in my car so the Ionity chargers can authenticate my vehicle. Be interesting to see how that works - apparently I will get installation instructions!

That was quick - I got a reply back from the system almost immediately and the certificate was in my VW App for installing under the plug-and-charge option. It installed fine but replaced the existing "We Charge by elli" certificate (which I had never used anyway). If the car can only handle one certificate at a time and all the charging companies are going to use a different certificates then it all seems a bit problematic.

Yes, the same happened to me, although I had to update my VW connect app to activate the install button.

I've not used the Elli thing either, but I have used Ionity. I think the point here is to start to get a bit more joined up, so it would be good if there is one certificate to rule them all.

That's one approach.
The government announced a while back that regulations or law would be brought in to require the charging companies to roam - I suppose analogously to mobile phone companies - and accept each other's tokens and bpass bills around.

It seems sensible, and if the government finds a few moments spare from its busy schedule of fighting itself and the world perhaps it will happen.

The charging structures, subscriptions etc seem needlessly baroque - not for the benefit of the users, but part of a scramble between the companies to be the survivor when it all settles down.

It only currently (sorry about the bad pun) works with Ionity. The nearest one to me is about 120 miles away, so I don't think I will bother!
