My build number is 3133XXXX.

To say I'm pissed off is currently an understatement.
That makes sense to an earlier post on this forum (not sure which topic) where someone was quoted 8 weeks delay in build week. Which was originally was 6 weeks so things are obviously getting a lot worse.

Thank Newfie, my assumption is that practice varies from individual-to-individual, and dealership-to-dealership. My chap kindly provided me with a screenshot some weeks back, with "this is what I see". No mention of calling anybody for more detail.

I got an "in production" email from VW this morning. What does this actually mean? My last update from the dealer was build week 46.

How is everyone getting progress updates on the order? There seems to be no online tracker and the VW online chat folk say the tracker is also down for them. Do you have to reach out to the dealer each time? Getting an update from the dealer is rather very slow with mine.

Also what does it mean when the dealer says "Your order is waiting to be updated by the factory" when I asked for a provisional build week?

I’m not sure anyone knows. I’ve never had an email from VW, despite signing up for them from the (now unavailable) online tracker…

We got this too. It arrived at the beginning of the week we had had confirmed as our confirmed build week (42) so I'd assume it means exactly that - it's now in production. Of course, there was no indication of how long it might take, so we might be waiting 6-8 weeks for it to finish build given the above posts from others. I was pleased to receive the email though, because it was independent of (not from) the dealer, but matched what he had told us a couple of weeks earlier, so seemed like things were working to plan.

I wonder if these emails have replaced the online tracker, but only for people who ordered after the tracker was removed? I can't remember when it was removed but I know it was about that time (I ordered 05/08.)

The only way you can get any updates is currently through your dealer.

When your dealer creates an order on the VW Ordering portal on completion it will show like in image below

Order showing week no.jpg

Where it shows "Original Build Week" is the provisional build week at time of order.
Firstly with your dealer ask if the order has been accepted with the factory and if it is ask what is the "original build week" showing on your order.

Thanks Newfie. I am guessing "waiting to be updated by factory " means that the order has not yet been accepted by the factory. Not sure how long these things take, but will keep pushing. I had been quoted 26 to 30 weeks so I am not holding my breath, still it will be good to know what the provisional dates are from VW.

Its all reliant on the dealer now and how good they are at keeping you updated but like I have said they are as much in the dark but they do have the order to show status updates.
"Waiting to be updated by factory" could mean anything. They need to specify which update are they waiting for. If its a confirmed build week that will be some time yet.

Sending my dealer a version of this screenshot did the job in getting more regular updates. Now every time they send an email they send an updated version of this screenshot!

That's great news.

I’m slightly confused about the order no, Mine starts with 8389XXX and is 7 digits long. Are these the same order numbers people are discussing here that start 313... etc? The only reference I've got is the Order No that's on the paperwork I got from the dealer the day I signed it all. I've not had any email or SMS from Volkswagen.

My dealer says that it's ordered and will be a long time before I hear anything else.

It's pretty rubbish that there is no way to track this given the long waits.

That's a different one - it'll be their (dealer's) internal reference that you have.

Once VW confirm/accept the order, you get an order number that starts with a 3. If it's a recent order, I don't think they are readily 'accepting' them at the mo, so it might take a little longer

My order number also starts with an 8 (8069xxx). I've never had one beginning with a 3 despite it now being in build. So you aren't alone Camsoft. I don't suppose it matters other than that you can't compare so easily to others with 3... numbers?

(Edit and to add, having seen your post below - our order forms are the same and we are not with the same dealer, mine is from Johnson's VW Liverpool).

Oh wow so when my dealer said my order was placed he was just saying placed with the dealership and VW hasn’t even accepted it?!

That’s a bit rubbish. So if they aren’t even accepting orders why are dealers will accepting them?
